Absolutely incredible! Hideaway by Penelope Douglas had me hooked from start to finish. The twists, tension, and passion were off the charts. A must-read! Can't wait for the next book! ♥️♥️♥️♥️🎀🎀🎀🎀

We'll spend my weekend reading such thrilled script. Though I love the Kai's character and his level of maturity in understanding things.

A great book. The way the author leads the story keeps you on the edge, enjoying the twists and turns but the suspense part was low compared to first book. I absolutely adored Kai. He was perfect. Banks was a great character, quite different, deep and with many shades. There was unnecessary drag with the contract marriage sequence, which was a waste of ink. Other than that, leaving apart few loose ends (as the book is not really over since the series is open) this is a very satisfying read.

It was okayishh as per the plot and story but damn the book was spicy✨ overall was good, one time read!

This story was not what I expected. It's darker than Corrupt. The books have to be read in the correct order because each one has details and insights that leads to the next book. This is the story between Banks and Kai. I liked Banks better than Rika. Honestly I feel that Michael and Rika kinda became weak characters from this book onwards for me."On Devil’s Night, the hunt will be coming to you."Banks was a strong character but was an insecure girl who caught Kai's attention. I loved her character more than any female lead Penelope Douglas had written till date. She was a badass! Kai definitely had a dark side who enjoyed scaring people. He had pride and control over himself.Banks and Kai had history from 6 years and they discover more about how exactly are Banks and Damon related.“When we’re young, we are who we are out of necessity—we are who we’re taught to be. With freedom, though, comes the liberty to broaden our horizons. When we only have ourselves to answer to,” I said and glanced at her again. “You haven’t gotten that freedom yet, have you? Why?I don't want to spoil much but Banks and Damon have a unique relationship. When there's a choice Banks always chose Damon over everything else. (Damon had a huge role in this book)It's definitely worth a read if you want to read Kill Switch next!

4.5⭐I'm in love with Kai Mori and Banks. Honestly after reading the first book I didn't expect PD to write something like this.Banks was everything I wanted Rika to be. I absolutely love her. KaiBanks tender moments of intimacy to the raw, emotional conversations has my heart❤️

Hideaway by Penelope Douglas is the second book in the Devil's Night series, a dark romantic suspense series which follows Michael, Kai, Damon and Will — otherwise known as the "Four Horsemen" of Thunder Bay. I recommend reading this series in order as their is a significant overarching plot.Hideaway is the story of Kai Mori and Banks, an enigmatic female lead that instantly became one of my newest all-time favourites characters. I was immediately hooked by their meet-cute, and only fell more and more in love with both characters as the story unfolded. Their romance is angsty, thrilling, sweet and spicy. I'm obsessed with them.“But not around you. Around you, I get hungry. Like I’m starving.”Kai Mori is a calculated perfectionist, and a man of internal conflict as he tries to reconcile the ideals he had for himself with the reality of his mistakes. I don't think I've related so much to a male lead in a long time. I absolutely adore him and I felt he was such a perfect and healthy match for Banks after all is said and done. I loved the representation of Japanese heritage and everything this added to the story."I’m not your little one. ... But you’re right about control. It’s an illusion. Look at yourself. You never had it."But, Banks. Banks is everything!! She is a perfect example of the absolute magic Penelope Douglas can create through their writing. Her story is unique but brutal, raw and believable. I won't say more about her because she is part of the mystery that unravels, but she is a force. I love her.This story carries Penelope Douglas' classic emotional gut punch. If you know me and follow my reviews, it's pretty rare that I am moved to tears when reading but Pen D is quite often the exception; their characters and their issues become so real to me, I don't know how else to describe it. Chapter 7 brought tears to my eyes and had me all up in my feelings. I'm in awe of what was captured in that scene, and I don't think I'll ever forget it.“All animals bite when they’re provoked.”The plot in this book is levelled up in comparison to Corrupt. While we are still given two timelines to unravel what happened in the past, there is more mystery and suspense that bleeds into the present. It's perfectly paced and structured; I feverishly devoured the whole second half in one day because I could not put it down. Like Corrupt, it ends with a healthy dose of chaos and action but also leaves so much left to be explored. I am so invested in this world!!Damon has huge presence in this story as part of the suspense (I've you've read Corrupt, you know he is involved in something of a cliffhanger) and my dark heart was bleeding for him at every turn. He is the definition of a wounded animal lashing out violently and I cannot wait for the rest of his story."Territorial is fine when it’s in the bedroom. It’s not fine when it keeps someone you’re supposed to love from living a life."I wouldn't be surprised if this book and this couple becomes a favourite of mine from this series... it was everything I wanted and more. Definitely recommend this series to any romance readers that want something thrilling, edgy and toxic with an unforgettable emotional undercurrent.

No segundo livro da tão aclamada saga Devil's Night a Penelope conseguiu me deixar ainda mais empolgada. Eu amo ver a progressão dos personagens, mesmo quando eles não estão em destaque. Amo ver como o relacionamento da Rika e do Michael evolui sempre. Gostei de ver novos lados do Kai e eu gosto de como a Banks entra numa jornada de descoberta de si mesma. Agora, o que mais me empolgou no livro todo foi a tensão que o Damon Torrance provoca. Ele me deixa maluca, de verdade, me sinto doente de ver o quão doente ELE é, mas como personagem insano, imprevisível e intenso ele serve o terror e a loucura que promete; em questão de ser vil e louco, Damon entrega tudo. Apesar dos elogios, eu gostaria que o livro tivesse mais um capítulo, focado só na Banks e no Kai, eu gostaria de ver eles fazendo algo fofo e de casal propriamente dito, mas acho que minha imaginação da conta.

Perfection,the suspense, the build up, the excitement and everything about it, banks sassy attitude or Kai’s attitude back, this is absolute perfection.

When I first started the series I thought that Kai would be my favorite horseman, but Banks is definitely my favorite girl. With every reread I find myself loving their story more and more.
