Rotator cuff/torn bicep problem. Pain relieved by prescription pills. Surgery in the future? Gotta be a better way. Feeling that this was a small price to pay for possible relief, I ordered these for the shoulder, back, wrist and knee Over $100. Dr. Oz had just reported on an expensive knee therapy involving a battery. He said that he did know that it worked and that he didn't endorse any other products because he didn't know if they worked or not. No research. Here on Amazon though, we find dozens of personal experiences rating these items a B+. Good enough for a try. I know that the mind is a powerful thing and that psycosomatic relief is a possibility. So, I was watching for that.After getting the shoulder wire, I immediately cleaned with alcohol and applied it. Within a half hour, I could tell a big difference. No more pills required. If my shoulder hurts, I would put it back on. After doing this for a few days, the supplied tape was gone. No way to get more. So I began taping it on. After a week, still no shoulder pain but I had a skin irritation, no matter what kind of tape I used. So I came up with a way to carry it under the shirt, affixed by an arm band placed high on the arm. Complicated to explain, but suffice it to say that They Need To Sell Original Replacement Tapes for the unit. The back brace is much too small but very effective. I have generalized back pain and I have to move it. But it does work. I don't know how though. How can a wire with a light (3 v. )current running thru it help my muscles? If you know, please write. It's driving me crazy. In short (pun intended), these units work much better than the magnets I've used in the past (with some relief). I've also replaced the batteries in the all the units except for the shoulder one. Those times that I've not got pain relief, it turned out that the battery was low.Uses watch batteries available for a quarter each from Amazon. Once the battery for the shoulder unit quit, I simply started using the knee unit. Now my wife and I take turns using the units. Perhaps I should buy more.

I originally purchased this for lower back pain. However, over the past weekend I used it on my shoulder. My family makes homemade sauerkraut once a year. Anyone who knows how to make sauerkraut knows that it can be hard work. You have to stomp the cut cabbage in a large (20 gallon in our case) earthenware crock with a wooden stomper until the cabbage starts to break down (think mashing mint with a muddler for a mojito, but with 100 pounds of shredded cabbage instead). I did 90% of the stomping and woke up the next unable to move my arms due to shoulder pain and stiffness in both shoulders. Since I only had one of the actipatches, I put it on the shoulder of my non-dominate (weaker) arm for the day and kept it on all night. I did not take any OTC pain relievers. The next day there was a noticeable difference in pain level. The one I used the patch on felt great with minimal pain. The other one still felt very sore. The only issue I have with the Actipatch is that it was hard to keep in place over my shoulder. An ace bandage helped keep it in place.Updated May 21, 2010.I had foot surgery on 5/14/10 to remove a plantar fibroma from the bottom of my foot. A few days after surgery I placed the actipatch (minus the strap that comes with it, which ripped when I used it for my shoulder) inside the foot boot they put on me to hold my foot still. I have kept it turned on for the past 4 days straight. I have noticed that I don't need the pain meds (percocet) as much. I also had a post-op appointment today and was told by the podiatrist that the surgery scar "looked terrific." She asked what the thing was in the boot and I told her all about the Actipatch and what it does. She was impressed with the healing of my foot and told me to let her know when the device is fully cleared by the FDA that it would be something she would recommend to others.

I was skeptical when I purchased this I have fibromyalgia and all over body pain. I purchased this item to use for lower back and SI joint pain. I figured I would try it and if it didn't work I could get my money back.I read all the reviews and noticed that most of them were good some where not.I must say that it did help me I'm not exactly sure how this works. I've actually ordered some books from Amazon on how this method of pain relief works.For me it does work and I've had long-term chronic debilitating pain. You don't feel anything it doesn't have any side effects and for me it relieved my pain amazingly quick.I sleep with it on and then leave it off until I start having pain again. You can wear it during the day too with no problem.I have also tried it on friends and two of my dogs and I must say it seem to have helped my dog's as well and my friends said they thought it was weird but it did seem to help them too. I wish there was something I could use like this that would do my whole body since I have entire body pain. Try it if it doesn't work or you can get your money back as far as I know.

I am considering my second purchase of the acti-patch since it gave very helpful relief of my chronic upper back and neck pain. I used it while sleeping and it is comfortable enough to allow you to sleep soundly without waking up due to cords, equipment, and heat as with a heating pads and other devices. I would have given it 5 stars if not for the inconvenient way to turn it on/off with a little tab you slide in and out of mechanism. A family member threw out the tab since it can be easily mistaken for an old piece of packaging and it was not easy to improvise with a piece of folded paper. I spent time doing this however since I LOVED the pain relief so much and wanted to turn it off to preserve the battery life. Which brings up another point that it would be more helpful if the battery was replacable and I didn't have to purchase an entire new product (not cheap at over $40 with shipping)As a medical professional and lupus sufferer, I would recommend this product overall as the best non-drug pain relief I've found to date.

I'm a natural sceptic who has tried lots of therapies and operations for pain caused by a completely collapsed disc in my lower back. I am always in pain, but since trying the Actipatch for about 3 months now I'm convinced enough to keep going with it. There have been changes to the programme of my neuro stimulator but that having been useless in the past I think that the reduction in my pain is likely down to the Actipatch. I got up this morning having had a bad night and saw that the light on it had gone off, so I will order more (I already have a replacement). Try it.Update: Now been using Actipatch for 13 months. Had a really bad night last night and so checked the light was still on, which it was, however I have a calendar month reminder to change it, but last month had 31 days in it and the makers only say it will last 30 days (720hrs). That may be relevant though they say change it when the light goes off. It wouldn't be the first time that I've had a worse time past the 720 hrs.

I started to use these from when they first came into this country. Due to injuries to my spine whilst working I find it hard to sleep at night. This Acti-patch helps me to sleep through the night along with other additional things like pain analgesia and hot water bottles. I have found that it is all about a multi help approach.

I have a few of these acti patch devices and it seems to me that it is basically the same device but with different means of fastening it to the body. Certainly the one for the shoulder is very similar to the one for the back, with the shoulder one fastening with plasters and the back one held in place by the belt. So I've used the shoulder one for my knee with good results. The back belt fits comfortably and I take a size 22 in jeans.I have noticed this making a difference to my knee, back and shoulder. I am no expert and the people making these may have reasons why you need different ones for different parts of the body but taking my own chances with it, I would say I really could get away with using one in different places to save money as my pains move around with being fibromyalgia pains.

I've tried this now 24/7 for about a week & I'm very pleasantly surprised.. I am a sufferer for many years with chronic pain, sciatica & nerve pain & attended pain clinics for years.. I've been on cocktails of opiates and unhelpful pain relief for years to the point it made me unwell.. I cannot be without a certain medication but decided to try anything that would help to no avail until I tried this.. I'm not saying miracles have happened but I will say it has helped considerably through the night when laying down became something I could no longer look forward too.. I would not be writing this if I didnt think it was worth it and everyone is different but personally I'm very happy and relieved to have found something comfortable & easy to use.. just tape it on wherever you're hurting & give it a try I hope you get the same satisfaction I have
