Q: Is this going to recognize my Firestick ?

Yes, the HDMI switch does recognize the Amazon Firestick. I would recommend purchasing a HDMI extension cable to use with the Firestick. The reason I make this suggestion is because due to the width of the Firestick, when you plug it into the switch, it blocks a portion of the port next to it and prevents you from using that port. Connecting the HDMI extension cable to the Firestick, then plugging the extension cable into the switch will allow you to access the port next to the extension cable.

Q: what is this powered by , just a usb cable , or does it come with its own power cord that plugs into an outlet ?

This item uses the supplied usb cable, typically you can plug directly into your TV’s usb on most smart TV’s. Or you can use a wall adapter usb-ac adapter to power the device. I plugged mine into the TV and it works perfectly.
