Can you use this to iron clothes on a hanger by putting the shirt cloth between the iron and your hand?

You probably could for a light touch up, but would be hard to do a good job of ironing a complete item

Tip top of the glove to wrist is 10 1/4 inches.

Can I hand wash these? I'm accustomed to washing everything.

I haven't washed them but based on their material make up, I think you could hand wash and air dry. I'm like you, if I can't wash something, I don't want it. However, I haven't felt the need to wash these. They don't get soiled just coming in contact with fabric and steam.
