I use them to hold back my hair at night when I wash my face...as an alternate to a hair band...gentler on the hair, doesn't leave marks. Others may use for other purposes... it's like a barrette without the damage and "clip" marks...or if you have fine hair that barrettes don't work well on...they aren't pretty, but work for temporary holding of hair back (i.e. face masks, washing face, makeup applications....etc)
