Rugged Ridge | HD Tire Carrier Wheel Mount | 11546.52 | Fits 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK

The mount is very sturdy, and the light relocation bracket is excellent. I went from a stock tire to a 35" tire, and from stock wheels to a 3.75" backspace wheel. I had to replace the bumpers the tire rides against (not included) because the tire was out further from the tailgate. Even going to the bigger tire, the bottom of the tire came up almost 3" - and I lost a lot of rear window view. I'm probably going to modify the carrier to get the tire to the height I want. I did not install with the heavy duty hinge kit, and used the spacers in the kit. The spacers are not thick enough - if you bolt it up with those alone then you will bend your tailgate. I added a washer in addition to the spacers to get it to fit right. Other than that it was pretty well a bolt on. If you want the tire a little higher then this will make you happy. The most difficult part of the install was lifting the tire on and off several times to get the fit as good as possible.

Very solid product. Twice as heavy as the OEM product (at least) but half the price! Definitely considering the hinge support (sold separately) in the future due to the added weight with the tire. (35”x20”). Definitely recommend two people for install as there are quite a few adjustments to make and multiple “mounting and removing” that has to happen. The adjustable 3rd brake light option is a nice addition. Pic did not do it justice. Good product.

Keep in mind, they say it works with tailgate support… it’s a bolt on with their support, not others. I had to do about 1hr of grinding my Terraflex tailgate support to modify it … the end results is great the product is super strong (my stock one cracked). If you have stock tailgate hinges or their matching support it’s an easy bolt on , if not expect some fab work but worth it. Doesn’t shake, plenty of adjustments for the tire/wheel size and height of the 3rd light. It also raised the tire a few more inches to help it clear a trailer hitch

Overall good and easy to install. However keep your old bolts as they may be better suited than what is supplied or if your missing one as I was. Finally not a fan of the wiring a little tight but was able to hide it

The dealership wanted $800 to replace the cheap cast steel tire mount that comes stock on the 09 JK. This one is much much better build quality than OEM, and it was literally 8 bolts and a few screws.

This Carrier was very easy to install and is a perfect fit. the factory brake light was a very easy assembly to it. overall would buy again in a minute.

After buying larger tires for my jeep the back gate would not close properly. The tire was hitting the bumper. I bought this item to be able to raise the level of the tire. After receiving this and exploring the instructions it became apparent the the real solution was to also replace the hinges. This item is actually part of a larger kit that includes hinges. The full kit is actually pretty cool but ultimately i ended up going with a different brand (smitty built). But I am able to compare this one. The packaging was pretty bad. It was the equivalent of a bunch of metal parts banging around in a box. They attempted to put in some spacers but a failed attempt. When i received the kit from Smitty Built every component was packaged in it's own box and all the boxes were perfectly fit into a larger box. It was impressive. Moving on to the instructions... they were terrible... for both products. Rugged Ridge has better videos online than Smitty Built. But step 1 is pretty much to take the printed instructions and throw them away. They are useless. Look for YouTube videos.It is likely that if you increased the size/weight of your tire, you will need the full kit. Your Jeep hinges were not designed to carry the weight of larger heavier tires. I would recommend this kit or the Smitty Built kit but will also say that the instructions are terrible on both kits.
