Sony CFDS50 Portable CD, Cassette & AM/FM Radio Boombox-(Renewed)

Works well playing radio, CD's & cassette tapes. Most important has good sound quality.

I had to return it because when I plugged it in, nothing happened. No lights. I tried everything, and I'm an engineer who designs electronics so I fully understand about bent connections and the like--none of that was happening. I bought it for the CD player.Additionally, two of the buttons for the cassette player wouldn't even depress; it's as if some metal were directly underneath, they simply wouldn't budge even a tiny bit. They didn't offer to send me another.The return went OK. I checked the box for a home pickup and rewrapped it in the packing materials and kept it by the door until they arrived. Because I can work at home this was plausible; the pickup was to be Thursday but they arrived Monday. Select drop-off, not home pickup if it might mean losing pay while waiting.

Bought this refurbished unit to replace an older cd-play/receiver we keep in the bathroom to listen to music when showering, ... This Sony is very nice. Main thing I like is that it has a digital tuner and memory for the stations. Our old unit had a dial tuner, which would drift over time. I have not used the CD player yet, and may never do. Definitely will not be using the tape player. The refurbished unit was such a good deal even if only using the receiver.

Never Got the Instructions for this Item

This portable CD/radio works but I failed to notice that it is "Refurbished" and it does NOT operate like a top quality CD player. I cannot adjust the volume very high and it has VERY few features I realized later I would need. When you are listening to a CD with multiple tracks - once I stop it, it does not resume where I left off - it always reverts back to the first of the track. Very frustrating.

bought it for a 75-year-old who was very attached to their last one of a different brand. Was not sure I could make them happy with anything but the same brand but it was not available. Well, they love it! The sound is clear, full, and loud. Would buy one for myself also. Also, though it is black, so far, the text is bright enough for her to read.

It arrived broken..as in OBVIOUSLY BROKEN. The sound was distorted as if not tuned in properly, for FM radio and also CD playback. There is no way a technician worked on this "refurbished" product. It was exactly what I wanted; but I didn't want a broken unit. To send someone this unit was just begging for a negative review. Six of us wondered out loud how many people gathered round this bumbox wondering what was wrong with it. Lame; just really lame to waste other people's time like this.

Little boombox with a huge sound! It has more functions than I thought it would. Pretty easy to figure out, although I haven't tried shuffle and MP3 mode yet. It has a bass boost button, but doesn't really need it as the bass sound is pretty good. Still can't believe all that sound is coming out of such a tiny player!
