A cool practice monitor for singers
I wanted a small very portable monitor/speaker for singing. This is great. It's super lightweight. It makes a great monitor for practice. It takes an XLR mic and has another input for accompaniment. You can stream backing tracks from your phone as it is bluetooth enabled. I also use it to just listen to music. It's not that loud but it's fine for practice. There is a model (205) that has more wattage but it doesn't appear to be Bluetooth enabled. I wish this lightweight speaker came as a battery-operated product.

Wonderful near field monitor for live
Great for listening to talk backs and other broadcast style monitoring in a live sound scenario. Extremely light and quality sound, working well. Easy to set up and clear audio. Small, compact, and easy to place. However, the IEC is naturally a little loose, so I would suggest replacing with a locking IEC. For that issue, I'm giving it four stars, but would happily buy again.

Not sure what others expected.....
I read reviews of folks having some various issues but, took a chance anyway. Keep in mind, this monitor is less than $100. One common complaint was that the device wouldn't power on. At first, I thought mine was DOA but, it just takes a couple of seconds to power on. No big deal. If you're looking for a full featured, moderately powered personal monitor, this will most likely do the job for an acoustic solo or duo performer(s). If you need additional power for an electric setting, this is NOT the right device for that. For the price, it does the job perfectly. I just wanted a small, powered speaker that I could use around my home studio for various purposes......several useful inputs. I can connect a drum machine, mixer, guitar and microphone, a USB stick and then there's the Bluetooth. It's also mic stand mountable. No extra hardware needed. All in all, I'm very satisfied with my purchase. It does exactly what I intended it to do and it doesn't take up a lot of room.

NO PHANTOM POWER
the description here on Amazon and everywhere else on the Internet says it provides phantom power but it does not provide phantom power. you will need a $25 phantom power supply and one more XLR cable for that connection. I am not a musician, but... as an old Windows guru and electronics hobbyist... the Bluetooth is fishy. when pairing, first it identifies as "headphone" then changes to "Bluetooth". that's what you see in Bluetooth devices... "Bluetooth". yeah. after flipping the XLR phantom power device switch and hearing a loud POP from this thing, seems it had trouble turning on after that. like it took 30 seconds before it turned on... maybe there is a heat tripped fuse thingy in there or something, I dunno. about 12 hours later, now it turns on within 6 seconds. go figure. edit: I carefully rotated this thing on the desk and it spontaneously turned off. apparently a power cable connection problem. I opened it. the insides look okay, considering the workers are moving at light speed when assembling this stuff, but... the (power switch - power cable connector) circuit board is thrown on their at a 30° angle. that's just weird, and apparently they failed soldering one of the connections because of that. so I resoldered that area. will see whether the fix works in the long run. that angled soldering board obviously causes difficulty for the workers trying to solder the thing. I'm sensitive to noise. been using a cheap Marantz USB microphone for 10 years, quiet as a mouse. was very disappointed with this setup at first when connecting my expensive new microphone to the front microphone XLR input and heard a lot of hiss. woe is me. tried connecting it to the rear main XLR input with the mic button on and the hiss is gone. there is still a quiet bit of electrical/digital interference noise but it's inaudible at 3 feet. happy is me.

Best value mic-mount monitor speaker
Great sound for a vocal monitor, loud and easily mounted on a heavy duty mic stand.

It works, with some major caveats
The good; it works'ish. Line 2 input, both balanced and unbalanced is clean. There is no preamp on this channel. Bluetooth works well and is clean, range is abysmal. The bad; Sound quality is mediocre at best. Even with the 3 band tone control this sounds worse than a $50 bluetooth speaker. It is INCREDIBLY mid heavy. Highs are nearly non existent and certainly not clean. Lows.. It's a 5" driver. There are no lows. The front side mic/line 1 input is not a mic/line input, regardless of what the label says. You cannot put a line level source in to it, full stop. Even consumer -10dbv outputs will wildly overdrive the preamp, even with the gain control fully counterclockwise in the 'line' section of the pot. But wait! There's more! There is a 'main in' combo jack on the rear of the unit with a pass through. Conveniently there is a mic/line switch right there with it. "Let's use that!" you may think to yourself. I'm convinced this was designed by some Behringer engineer on their very last day of work, getting quite a few punks in on this model. That mic/line switch does exactly nothing. What you have on the back is a mic-level-only input on the back. In or out, the switch does nothing. Even more confusing is that the "Main In" on the back of the unit is actually controlled by the Mic/Line 1 (aka Level 1) pot. So basically you get a pair of mic inputs in parallel with only one gain control AND a mic level pass through, a usable line level input and a Bluetooth input without its own gain adjustment. Only the main volume control adjusts the Bluetooth level (I would assume the same for the MP3 player, but I didn't test this). There are some major engineering flaws in this unit. This is across two units, one manufactured in 2022, the other in 2023. I really don't understand how these made it out the door. If you need a compact shoutbox to keep at FOH, because sound quality doesn't matter and you can run a direct mic or line in to it, this is probably a great solution. But for actual sound reproduction, look elsewhere.

Very simple to install and use with good sound quality, simple controls, and convenient. The only think I missed was "HOW TO MOUNT IT ON A MIC STAND" - which was one of the important selling points. I scored a mount for it from a local music dealer - for a Mackie but it works. The mic stand mount should be included with the product if they intend to market it that way but anyway, it's still worth the 5 stars.

On l'aime.
