Our priest is a chaplain at a large hospital. He requested that people make rosaries he can give to hospitalized people. I can’t make them with my arthritic hands, so I bought these to donate. We put them each in a little organza bag. He said the patients loved them.They are much nicer than the plastic ones that aren’t much cheaper.

I have mixed feelings about this purchase. For me it's OK, did not need them for imminent event or gifts for exact number of recipients (if that had been the case, might have given just one star).First the pros - these are pretty, beads are lovely colors, some with a marbelized effect (for example two that are light grey have fine black spidery veins running through them and areas of a light rose pink on some of the beads; the turquois beads also have some of the spidery veins running through and little splashes of other colors - these look like stone). There are 2 of each color (other colors - green; royal blue; true red; cherry red - have more traditional glass/gem appearance), but all 6 types are pretty. Size of the beads (with exception, see "cons") is comfortable in the fingers and they are nicely spaced to be able to feel what you are doing/where you are. I like the size of these rosaries, some are too large for me - these fit a women's or child's hand well. Price is very reasonable, and they came quickly, sooner than expected.But there are cons and cautions to share - first, order so you allow time to inspect each and every rosary carefully, and make repairs if needed - and order more than you need in case there are issues you can't fix. Of the 12 I received, there was one that isn't useable (so for example if I were giving these all as gifts, this one would have to be replaced) - it has NO medal at all, has an extra ring attached to one end of the circle (at one of the points where the medal should have been attached), and had 11 beads in the 4th decade. No way to fix this, even removing the extra bead and extra link, when you hold it, not having the medal makes it hard to stay "oriented", the 1st and 5th decades are so close together. Another issue was fixable - 4 of the rosaries, if you held them up or laid them completely flat had the medal and crucifix facing opposite directions, with a fine pair of needle-nosed pliers I opened the link attaching each crucifix, turned it around, and re-closed the link. The other issues were that there is an occasional bead that is "squashed", like it wasn't fully formed in processing, these are much smaller, almost half the size, and much harder to feel, these are rare, but on one of my rosaries there is one of these, and it happens to be the bead between decades, which is an important marker and an unfortunate place for a flawed bead. Last "con" - the medals and crucifixes are plastic (they are silver in color, but as soon as you feel/hold them you realize they are not metal).So these are a decent value, and pretty, but poor quality control, put together by people who have no connection to how they are used, and require the purchaser to inspect and fix (or determine if some can't be) before using or gifting.
