Fictionally Real or Realistically Fictional?
The author has done a remarkable job to capture the simplicity, the beauty and the life of simple village folks of the region, via these two novellas. The author brings to light the conundrum of ambiguous morality, which one faces in their everyday life through this stories. The struggle of good over evil, the categorisation of truth in one box, the fundamental essence of living... all assembled and brought to life through these stories.

A short , powerful and light read .
The book is divided into 2 short independent novels - the first one is a thriller with impressive and occasionally disturbing narratives. There is something so relatable and eerie about this story, especially because rape and domestic violence are recurring headlines in everyday life. I was more at peace with the second novel, which had elements of folk and magical realism. It is about a man's unrelenting loyalty to the Chogyal ( king ) of Sikkim and the journey he undertakes to meet him. Having lived in an isolated spot in the hills for countless years, the man is unable to comprehend innovations in the city - political, social, and technological. I will positively recommend this book to anyone who loves the kind of writing that paints a vivid picture in simple language.

Unusual but interesting fiction
The two short novels give a good idea about Sikkim. The first one was average but the second one was exceptional hence the average of 4*

Average for me
I have read first part of the book, I have always keen on reading murder mysteries. The book engaged me only from the middle story that I was looking forward to read about what will come next but in the end it chopped my expectations because it was very suggestible through out the book that why she had murdered her husband. There is nothing new and it was super predictable. Now I am no more interested in reading the next part.

Exceptional!
Set in the rugged beauty of the hills of Sikkim, these are two entirely different stories, each with the ability to captivate the reader. Although the first one was intriguing, I found the second story to be the most exceptional one I've ever read. Absolutely brilliant debut by the author! Looking forward to reading the next one.
