Cradle Cap Step by Step
My baby has fine but thick straight blond hair. Cradle cap is an ongoing battle. This cradle cap brush is just one of the tools in my arsenal.I've heard that oil works well, and it probably does. But I don't use that because I've read that if you don't wash it out thoroughly it can clog pours and make cradle cap worse. My baby usually lets me give him a long bath, but sometimes he wants out NOW or he spits up in the water or worse which cuts bathtime short, and I didn't want to risk having to take him out with his head full of oil.1. First I wash his hair with a cloth baby wipe and Dr. Bronner's baby soap. I leave the wet cloth on his head for a little while, while I wash the rest of him and then play with him a little bit. Meanwhile, the cradle cap softens up a little.2. Next, I use a fine comb and brush his hair up and out so it sticks up in all directions. This exposes his scalp, I can see the worst cradle cap spots and the brush bristles can reach the scalp through thick hair.3. I use the brush to lightly scrub the scalp, in little circles or zig zag motions. This will loosen up the edges of some of the flakes, and work some of them come of into the hair.4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until bathwater cools or until baby wants to leave the bathtub.5. Remove baby from tub. Dry baby and hair. Cradle cap will still be soft for a period of time.6. Some flakes will only be partially stuck to head, they can be loosened with a fingernail or toothbrush while baby is nursing or sitting in wrap. Loose flakes can be removed with fingernails or a fine comb. This is what I do, and the cradle cap brush definitely helped. It loosens up the edges of flakes in a large area. Baby now has isolated flakes on scalp, but before the brush had a pretty solid layer of cradle cap on his crown. The brush isn't a magic bullet, but I think its worth it.

Every baby should have one of these
My baby had small dark spots appear on her scalp at first I thought they were freckles. Who after rubbing my finger on one I noticed it was a mild case of cradle cap. At first I used my nails gently on her scalp to try to remove the little dots but they remained. I looked up cradle cap on amazon and noticed this had a lot of great reviews. The brush is not white like the one in the photo its yellow with a white brush. Its really soft to the touch but is strong enough to massage the scalp. I used this brush along with honest companies lavender or orange shampoo and massaged my babys scalp with it during bath time. Over the next week almost all of the spots were gone. I still use the brush even though she doesn't have cradle cap anymore because it does a nice job getting the soap all in her hair and she likes how it feels. I will continue to use this brush on my baby until her hair is too long for it. I would imagine it would tangle in long hair. My husband has been known to take this brush out of the tub and use it during his shower as well. He loved how it feels on his scalp. This brush will be one of my go to baby shower items. I think every new parent should have this brush on hand to help keep cradle cap away. I know it worked for us and I didn't want to have to put all kinds of crazy oils in my babys hair. This with her honest company shampoo did the trick. I 100% recommend this brush.

Be sure to file down sharp edges on the corners!
Be sure to file down sharp edges on the underside of the corners, they don't look sharp but can give you a painful cut when scrubbing curved surfaces (neck, underarms etc). I used up three brushes so far (every one needed its edges filed) and will buy more when bristles start coming out after about a year of vigorous use. Now that the kids grew up, our whole family uses them for regular baths /showers and after taking a piece of rough sandpaper or even a nail file to smooth the corners, we think it's the best for the price!

crusty patches are now completely gone and his head smells like a dream
I began using this little scrubber on our baby's head when he was 9 weeks old. His cradle cap was rather unsightly and it had made its way into parts of his eyebrows. For a while I was using a washcloth to gently rub off the stubborn patches but going over the fontanelle made me nervous. When the scrubber arrived I began using it twice a week. We are on week 13 (today) and the thick mess of dried, crusty patches are now completely gone and his head smells like a dream! What I did was rub a good coating of organic coconut oil after washing his hair with fragrance free Burt's Bees shampoo and the scrubber. I'd massage in small circles for 2-3 minutes. It made him nervous at first (because it makes a slight whooshing noise) but I talked to him and sang to him and he would either fall asleep (while I rinsed his head) or be so relaxed his arms would dangle at his sides.I don't feel at all uncomfortable about using it still, even now that the cradle cap is gone. I feel that it's good to give the head a good, albeit gentle, scrubbing once a week--stimulating the lymphatic system. In fact, judging by his facial expressions lately, I think he really enjoys the rhythmic movement of the scrubber!

Great for cradle cap!
This worked perfectly. My baby had a flakey little scalp that I could not get clean, I massaged it while shampooing with a brush and even brushed her hair every feeding to try and get it all off. I was too afraid to scrub too hard because of her soft spot. After using this just one week, it cleared up dramatically. I use it with bella bee cradle cap shampoo, not sure if you even need that special shampoo with this but I just wanted it gone fast. Its been about a month now and cradle cap is COMPLETELY gone :) I love it because I don't have to scrub her lil head hard at all, the bristles are tiny and soft so they lift up that shedding skin easily. I use it now just because it's not abrasive and cleans well, so why not... Another reviewer stated you could get it free at your hospital or whatever, well good luck tracking that down. This is worth it at under $10, just get your baby taken care of NOW! Oh and for a tip... The bristles come off the rigid backing so I use it that way so that it curves to her head better, either way you'll be happy with this purchase!

BEWARE - Not for sensitive skin!!
My baby had pretty intense craddle cap - probably compounded by her eczema. Needless to say her scalp was crazy sensitive. When I opened the package and felt the brush I recoiled in horror. There was no way I was using those scratchy hard plastic bristles on my baby's flaking/crusty/irritated head. It hurt when I rubbed the brush on my own skin - I can't imagine what it would have done to her scalp.I guess, based on the reviews, this brush works for newborns that have a thick craddle cap but no irritation due to eczema - however, it is a NO GO for those with any skin sensitivities. SO SO disapointed with my purchase - it is not a all what I expected. Pretty much wasted my money...For those of you looking for a solution, this worked wonders for me:1) Cream baby's head with Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream (produced my Mustela) the night before. This will help to moisten the craddle cap and alleviate some of the scalp irritation due to dryness.2) Wash baby's head the next day with Stelatopia Cream Cleanser and, while the cleanser is in baby's hair, brush the scalp with a plastic lice comb. This will gently remove most of the craddle cap without tearing our the hair.3) Rinse out the comb every few passes - it will get pretty gunky.4) Rinse out hair5) Pat head dry with a towel and moisturize scalp again with Stelatopia Moisturizing Cream.6) Repeat steps 1 trough 5 every day or every other day depending on your bathing routine. It took about a week to get rid of all the craddle cap but it hasn't come back since. The craddle cap appeared at 3 months and my baby just turned 6 months today :o)

Great product that does exactly what it claims!
This is a great little brush for gently massaging away cradle cap. I followed their instructions using coconut oil as my choice and just normal baby shampoo for washing. I also, let the oil soak much longer then just a couple minutes to really help it soften. Be patient as it takes a few days but it has removed my babies cradle cap bit by bit! My babies skin did turn a bit red from rubbing it with the brush but it didn't leave any abrasions and his skin was never sensitive to touch afterward. The redness faded quickly. This is a great product that does exactly what it claims!

Works!
My daugher had a little cradle cap and I heard good things about this brush. Used it once and could see the flakes lifting right away that brushing and washing alone could not do. Try it!Note: I recommend gentle circles to avoid irritating delicate skin, and leaving the olive oil on for a little while before using the brush.

It's soft and gentle and provides a good massage as well as lifting off dry flakes
This brush helped the most at reducing my baby's cradle cap, more than any cream or shampoo. It's soft and gentle and provides a good massage as well as lifting off dry flakes. I couldn't take the comb apart the first couple of times to wash it. The bristled part pops off. After some practice I got used to it. Highly recommend.
