Is there any room for groceries in it?

Yes. I've had 3 paper grocery bags easily, inside on the floor. More not so easily. There is a little room behind the seat if the seat is forward. I have had more fun riding in my little "car", and the freedom it has given me. Hope this helps you with your decision.

How is it on steep hills?

my experience with a very steep hill, was that it just stopped about half way up. I had to let it cool down and reset, then continue. I have really enjoyed my Flagship!
