THIS IS THE BEST BOOK.
Honestly, this is the book that anyone who was ever a teen never knew they needed. Into NKOTB but have no idea where Harry Styles even comes from? Too young for N Sync and Backstreet Boys but want to know MORE? IS YOUR FAVORITE OBSCURE BOY BAND EVEN MENTIONED IN HERE? Probably! This is more like a really cool encyclopedia that is not only knowledgable, but really excited to give you a taste of said knowledge. Were you a teen that was into pop music at some point in the last 30 years? Buy this book. You'll have fun.

Great breezy read
Even as the target audience boy bander who had already read much of the source material, I learned plenty. My only complaint is that it could have been longer. Let's talk more about Gary Barlow and Robbie Williams! The real life second and third acts of Ricky Martin! I love everything Maria writes, full stop, so I just hope there is a sequel or Jez continuation series on the horizon.

YOU NEED THIS BOOK AND A COPY TO GIVE YOUR BEST FRIEND
For any boy band fan, or fan-curious, person out there, Larger Than Life is an amazing read from start to finish. Witty and informative, it's a quick dive into the world of boybandery that will make you think critically and fondly about these iconic acts.

Cute but meh.
Cute book, but it was pretty much a summary of boy band documentaries with some fangirling sprinkled in. The author claims to be “inclusive” and claims to give the history boy band evolution but glosses over the black and brown boy bands of the 60s-70s and jumps straight into modern boy bands. I love me some modern boy bands, but this book does not deliver what it promises to teach.

A close up view of boy bands over the years...
Interesting read for anyone who has ever listened to these bands. Great insight into the mechanisms of boy bands in general.

I've loved this book forever in lifetimes before
Holy frick, if I still had a MySpace I would for sure put this book in my top 8.1 part historic reference, 1 part dictionary, a heap of nostalgia, and a pinch of obsession; this book is my new favorite thing.Take it from me. It's a lesson to be learned: Ms. Sherman goes into great detail to give us lucky readers an in-depth look at all things Boy Band. Once opened it's impossible to put this book down. It's as addictive as the catchy melodies that graced my CD player while working on homework.Easy to read, adorable illustrations, and a much-needed escape from the pandemic. This book is so fine, designed to blow your mind.
