Purchased this for my 3 yo grandson’s birthday. We read it together at first. After that he kept getting it out, turning the pages and listening to the music. The large buttons have a small area to push to play the sounds of the various instruments in a jazz band. This makes the child pay attention to which button he/she needs to push and what instruments they pick. The story line is a little advanced for 3-4 year olds, but still fun to read with them. This is a great way to help your child learn reading and musical instrument sounds. Explains the basics of a jazz band and keeps it simple enough for a child to understand. Should be a good book for him the next couple of years. Only minor complaint would be the page paper could be a touch thicker - children can be tough on books! Get this instead of putting your child in front of a tablet!

Three levels of text so as the child matures they can absorb more information about jazz and the instruments. The music is such fun that my grandson loves pushing the buttons and listening to the sounds. He loves the sound of the drums. I love the tuba! And you can turn off the sound AND change the batteries when they go dead.

My daughters, 7 and 3.5 love to read this book together and push the buttons to hear the instruments. We have the other one, Welcome to the Symphony as well and buy these for birthday and holiday gifts for friends and family. This version has a button on the back to turn the sound off--at first I thought the book was broken but then I realized it was a brilliant update :) The book not only helps my little one with reading as she follows along and pushes the buttons, but it has also developed her ear for different types of instruments when we listen to music together. The rich pictures and story lines of the little characters navigating their ways through understanding what IS jazz makes it engaging as well as informative. Keep these books coming, Carolyn Sloan!

We received this as a gift for my son's 3rd birthday, and I've since bought it 2 more times for other friends' kids - a hit every time. It is great. Gave him a real curiosity about different musical instruments, teaches some knowledge, the audio snippets are great, and the battery lasted a good while.

Great book, but it is impossible to get the batteries out when they die. I’ve tried everything and am about to break the little tabs off!

Such a hit, we’ve already replaced the batteries since it’s been a daily read in our house for about 6 months now.

This is such a fun book and makes a great gift for kids.
