This Airthings Radon Detector is a great supplement to my DIY radon mitigation system. My biggest hesitancy before purchasing was whether or not it would be accurate. Several reviewers questioned whether it was accurately calibrated by testing it next to home test kits and inspector-rated machines. I had my home professionally tested twice prior to purchasing this device (one 48-hr test in summer and one 72-hr in winter). Although I did not perform a side-by-side comparison, the averages and ranges detected by this Airthings monitor have been within a close enough range to the professional tests to make me comfortable with it’s accuracy. Two separate radon professionals informed me radon levels change hourly depending on many factors including weather, air pressure, air movement in the home, temperature, and random emissions from the radioactive minerals underground. After 16 weeks of use with this Airthings monitor, I have noticed several trends, like spikes in activity when a large rainstorm brings runoff (presumably radioactive) water into the crawlspace, or when the house is left dormant for a weekend trip. After collecting a 13-week baseline, I installed a radon mitigation system and have noticed the Airthing’s monitor detect less radon hourly. I can watch the radon levels build up or drop by turning my radon mitigation fan on or off. This response along with comparison to my previous professional tests gives me confidence this device is accurate. I’m glad I purchased it. It was easy to install bafter downloading the app. The added humidity and temperature features are nice to have. And the bluetooth connection has a surprisingly long range. I can check the levels from my phone throughout multiple rooms and floors of my house. I would recommend this product to anyone who’s on the fence.

Like it. Just got my first radon rating after 24 hours. The temp and humidity is a nice feature. Really accurate. I can go on the app to see all the info in real time and don’t have to be there. Also can get notifications with whatever settings I want. Really nice feature. Will be good to know if my air conditioner goes out with my pets inside when I am not there.

Works well. Readings are on par with my other radon detector. For the price this should have wifi connectivity and not just Bluetooth.

My fiancée was doing some tidying in the basement at our house and noticed the red ring. She was not familiar with the device, but texted me to let me know about the indicator light. When I got home, I again saw the red ring and connected to my phone via the app and it showed the radon level as high. We have a radon mitigation system, so this was concerning. Upon investigation, the power had been turned off to the radon fan during an internet install a few days prior. Once I turned it back on, the levels kept dropping according to the Airthings app, until we were back down to baseline. This showed that 1) The initial inspection for our home which showed radon was correct; 2) The Airthings Radon detector worked as expected to notify us of elevated radon levels; and 3) The radon mitigation system works! Very pleased all around

UPDATE: Over the course of the 1 month return period with Amazon (about 45 days because I had two units), I tried to pin down the issue of varying measurements by contacting the customer support to see what they have to say. I provided all the details about 1) how long the two devices measured, 2) how close the two devices were to each other, 3) what the 1 day and avg on both, and so on, 4) that both were new units directly from Amazon, 5) and that both were reset together to measure over the same period of time. My responses were then ignored at least three-four times and every time I send a follow up message asking why it's taking so long (after 4-5 days), the same representative named "Joshwin" apologized and asked the same scripted questions again. When I respond him with the same answers, he then disappears and so I had to send a follow-up message. So this back and forth went for close to 45 days now and I said forget it, I will just return the Wave as well. I rate this company's customer support at the bottom of any company I've interacted with and I will never recommend this company or its product lines since I was never able to get an answer as to why the two devices had varying measurements. --- I initially bought Airthings Corentium Home and it has been reporting quite high radon levels - ranging from 3 to 11, averaging at 6.7ish. Because it was difficult to check it constantly as it is in the basement, I also got Airthings Wave so that I can check from my phone. Airthings Wave has been reporting 2 to 5 despite both devices are in the same basement only a couple feet away. I even reset the old device to ensure that they start measuring the radon level at the same time. Even now, the current readings are off by 2+ pci/l. I've reached out to Airthings support with my observations and despite that they asked a couple initial questions like did you start measuring at the same time, after I answered their questions, they have been silent. They did read my messages as shown in the chat history with them but they just do not respond. I guess they already know the potential inaccuracies in their products. Based on my experience, I am just not going to rely on Airthings products.

I've had a home office in the basement for years, but due to Covid found myself spending more time down there than ever. A month or two into lockdown I seemed to be having shortness of breath issues and thought for a while that my mind was just playing tricks on me, "do I have the sickness..."? Well, I let that go for a while and when it didn't get better I did some research and decided to check my radon levels. I started with a mail in 3 day charcoal kit which came back somewhere in the low 4 range, not great, not terrible either since 4 is the recommended max level. Finding out that radon can vary over time, I decided to buy the Airthings Radon sensor. Overall, setup was quick, I agree the bluetooth design is a little annoying, but I've never had an issue syncing as long as I was in the normal 30foot range that bluetooth has. It doesn't sync in the background, only when you open the app. A WiFi option would be nice, but that would require a power cord, and I did appreciate that I could move this device around to several locations in the house which was easy with it being on batteries. Accuracy: After the 48 hour "acclimation" period, I saw the reported radon levels come right into line with the lab report. Then it kept climbing, then it dropped to almost nothing back in the green range, then back to red. Over and over every 2-3 days I'd be green, red, green, red, and I started to wonder if it was just a gimmick to make it look like it was doing something. It did seem to change with weather, but I could never put my finger on a pattern as the weather is always changing. Then I moved it from the basement to the main level for a few months, and the average was slightly lower, but I still bounced between acceptable and unacceptable levels. Finally, somewhere in the process I got actual Covid, got over it, and felt pretty much the same as before but I started to notice I felt better when I wasn't at home. We traveled for Christmas and had a vacation or two since someone has to keep the economy going... So I finally decided to install a radon fan on the passive pipe which was installed on our house during construction as required by code these days. The Airthings device had no way of knowing I just installed a fan, but it clearly picked up on the environmental change. In the screenshot you can see the radon level fall off a cliff and flatline in the green. In short, I no longer question if it was actually measuring anything, this thing works! I was surprised by the variability in radon levels over time, and I'd recommend anyone who's concerned to get a sensor like this. Go ahead and get a lab test as well just to confirm the sensor is good any working, but I do think there's a delay between your radon level and when it shows up on the sensor. This is surely why they tell you to wait 48 hours after setup before looking at the reading. I tried many times to open a window in my office when it turned red and never saw a blast of fresh air to make a difference. I'm not a physistist, but the sensor probably takes time to absorb or react to the radon, so let it sit and watch the trending over time. It's only been a week since installing the fan, and maybe my brain is giving my lungs a placebo effect, but I feel like it's made a difference.

L'application est simple et efficace, paramétrage et utilisation son intuitif (bien), visualisation des courbes sur des durées au choix. Au début, je n'ai pas pu télécharger l'appli "Airthing ASA" car mon mobil n'était pas à jour (version Android), après avoir mis la dernière version Android, tout est rentré dans l'ordre. + en passant la main au dessus du capteur, il nous détecte, et allume brièvement le voyant du dessus, la couleur varie en fonction de la mesure actuelle et des seuil paramétrés dans l'appli.

I purchased the Airthings Wave radon detector a couple of days ago, and I am already extremely impressed. The device itself is sleek and well built, but what really stands out is the companion app. The app is very useful, intuitive, and surprisingly easy to configure. Setup took only a few minutes, and everything connected smoothly without any hassle. The insights it provides are excellent. Being able to monitor radon levels along with humidity and temperature in one place is incredibly valuable. One feature I really enjoy is seeing the temperature trend overnight – it is amazing to clearly see the temperature drop when we lower the thermostat at night. That level of visibility is something I did not expect, and it adds a lot of practical value beyond just radon monitoring. While it already gives meaningful short-term readings, I am especially excited to see the results after another 27 days to get the true long-term picture of radon levels in my home. Having that kind of data-driven confidence is priceless when it comes to health and safety. Honestly, this is the best dollar I have spent on Amazon in a long time. If you care about your indoor air quality and can afford it, I would strongly recommend buying this device. You will not regret it.

Vergleichsmöglichkeit zur Messung fehlt mir, daher bin ich zur Genauigkeit etwas im Dunkeln. Formschön, funktioniert zuverlässig seit Kauf. Ich nutze Die App ist leicht zu nutzen und sehr informativ was die Auswertung der Datenreihe angeht. Ich geh mittlerweile auf die etwas teureren Geräte mit Display und WLAN Fähigkeit. Da brauch ich nicht zum Detektor zu laufen.
