is Herculiner the same exact product as Rhino liner? Is Herculiner better than Line-X?

Two different mediums and two different application processes. Line-X is a professional / dealer applied finish... whereas Herculiner is a DIY product. I'm a firm believer that Herculiner is one of, if not, THE best DIY liner products out on the market. Better than Line-X? Maybe not. Best bang for the buck? Yes. Follow the directions and be critical of the prep process. Herculiner will serve you very well and turns out great.

Can I do a recoat over my old herculiner

yes you can. I just redid the bed of my truck. used Lacquer thinner to prep it, then did 2 new coats on the bed walls and did 2 new coats on the bed. I use this stuff for everything and have found that if you paint over (Rattle cans) it as it tacks up, you get a nice glossy finish that lasts. The UV on the Herculiner isn't that good, But if you paint over it as it tacks it gives it the UV protection it is lacking. Did my sons off-road bumper, rock rails, and the entire interior floor 3 years ago still looks great.

I have a 2001 Dodge Dakota sport Ext, Cab w/ 6-1/2 ft' bed. I want to do the bed, sides and tail gate. Would 1 gal. be enough?

I did a 2002 Ford F150 6 foot bed and had some leftover after two coats. It looks great. I use this 20 years ago on a 2001 tundra and it held up great. A gallon covered the tundra as well.
