You can do that but not with this relay. You need to order a relay with a 12VDC coil. This relay is 120VAC. Per the datasheet, the coil will pickup at a minimum of 102VAC. You need a relay that has -12D in the end of the part number. See datasheet https://www.azettler.com/pdfs/az2280.pdf The coil voltage and contact voltage are independent. You need to match the coil voltage to whatever you are using to control the relay. You make sure the contact rating matches the load you are controlling with the relay. See the "CONTACTS" section of the datasheet. The load ratings vary depending on the type of contact and type of load.

This particular relay has a 120v a.c. coil. So it would not work on 12v dc. The NO and NC contacts are rated for up to 277v a.c. and 28v dc.

I'm looking for relay that acts like a three way switch. Can anyone offer specs to help me locate some options? Is it a SPDT side not stable? It would be for 120 V home lighting system.

Yes mine is a SPDT the coil voltage is 120 vac. I don't know what you mean side not stable so I can't answer to that

This is a "form A" relay as denoted by the "120A" in the model number. Now you need to find the manufacturer rated current draw of your heating element (or measure it under load using an ammeter) and compare the current draw to the current capacity of the relay. The wattage capacity is also given in the specs above (840W) so that can also be compared if that is the only specification given for your element.
