Love Americolor food coloring. They work well with frosting and candy. You don't have to use a lot to get the right color.

Wear gloves
I used this to make bloody eyeball deviled eggs. The color saturation is great, but it bled into the eggs a lot more than I expected. I would buy again, but maybe change the technique a little. Oh, and it WILL stain your skin, so wear gloves when you use this stuff.

Great Red Color
This is a very good, strong, red color. I did use a bit more than normal to get a darker red color, but was overall happy with the results. These gel colors are always a great product, and I have never had any problems with them not producing a strong enough color.
