I had to replace a fuel pump on a 2014 Dodge Charger which is done with the fuel tank in the car under the back seat. I was able to eventually get the locking ring off with a brass punch and a hammer but I fought with putting the ring back on for almost 2 hours. I ordered this and it came the next morning and literally within 5 minutes I had the fuel pump locking ring reinstalled. It would have also made the removal process far easier. It's a simple tool but it can save you a lot of time, and your time is worth money whether you are doing this in your driveway or if you're a pro at a shop.

Excellent tool for unlocking your Fuel Pump and re-locking it back in place. Brush out all the sand and vaccume up all the dirt and debri. Then spray with WD-40 it will help break the ring free on your older vehicles like mine, 2012 Jeep Patriot. This is a great tool. I wouldn't want to change out a fuel pump without it ever again. Now that I have bought the proper tool this was safer, quicker, & simple to use, made of decent enough material to last many more jobs. I've used it 4x already. It's lighter than I expected and has paid for its self in the time it saved just on the first job. Excellent value especially the price I paid.

Worked like a champ on my 2006 Chrysler 300 3.5l. Car had a difficult time starting (long cranks) and would sometimes completely shutdown while driving without warning. Not good. It only has 24000 original miles on it. Tried the easy stuff first. Changed out the fuel pump relay, did not fix the problem. Changed out the Position and Crankshaft sensors, did not fix the problem. Figured it was time to deal with the fuel pumps. There’s no way you can remove the lock ring with a hammer and punch/screwdriver, I tried. And my lock rings were clean (no rust, no dirt, nothing). You’re gonna need to use some force, at least on my vehicle, to get the lock rings off and back on again when using this tool. Spray a little WD40, put your weight into and it pops off in one or two clicks. Putting the ring back on is just as demanding. Again, a good amount of force is needed. This tool is absolutely necessary if you’re going to replace the fuel pumps yourself. The tool itself is solid, has some weight, and doesn’t feel cheap, which is good because of the amount of force that is needed in order use it. Well worth the price even if you only use it once. Think of the money you save instead of taking it to the shop. Just know that even with this tool, getting these lock rings off and on is the hardest part of the job. Removing and replacing the pumps, fishing the tubes, and reconnecting everything is the easy part! I’m no mechanic and the job can be done in less than an hour easy. Oh, and replacing the pumps fixed the problem! Finally starts normal.

This tool is perfect, got the job done with ease. i recommend everyone buy this over the competitors universal cheap made tools. I ordered a universal lock ring tool from another listing and it broke while i was assembling it. But this tool is high quality and worked perfectly

Unfortunately it didn't work for my 2001 Jeep cherokee fuel pump. However, it felt very durable and great quality.

This item right here saved my behind this weekend. It’s a sturdy tool with a 1/2” drive end on it. And just stout and well built. I waited for my Amazon driver at my fence, and when he handed me this box I felt the weight behind it, I felt like a kid on Christmas Day opening this package. My wife has a 2014 jeep Cherokee, I replaced the fuel pump, and taking off the ring wasn’t the hard part, putting it back on was. But this tool along with leverage saved me. I had my digital torque wrench read and it took about 180 ft lbs To fully tighten the ring. And this tool got a big fat kiss, and my wife gave me a kiss because her car would be ready for the next day. Honestly not sure if this tool fits on my ram 1500 but I’ll definitely do research and if I need to order another… you bet I will! Thankfully my pump is good, but I’ll be ready for when it’s time to replace it as well, instead of using a punch and hammer, or channel locks, or even vice grips… This tool right here will now be the way for me!

Used this tool to change fuel sensors in a 2007 Santa Fe I sprayed WD-40 around the locks on the lock ring just to loosen up the dryness surface rust gathered there you will see once you do this job anyhow I then disconnected the wiring and fuel lines ( don’t forget to remove the fuel pump relay to run it out of fuel first ) Then I put the wrench in place I put a short piece of pipe over the handle of my 1/2 ratchet for leverage because yes those lock rings are tight .. I applied tension to the ratchet then I tapped the edge of the tool with the hammer just slightly tapping and BAM 💥 lock rings broke clearly easy job when you take your time and pay attention to what your doing clean the lock rings before putting them back on and apply some grease to the lock areas just to make it slide easier when installing them ;) I recommend this tool it’s well built and got the job done ✔️ with no issues
