Quick and easy to install and setup
This device was smaller than I had thought (which is good, as it is sighted by the rear view mirror. It was easy to set up (plug and play) and connect to my phone. Watching back / downloading the video is easy.Great dashcam that gives extra piece of mind should something happen when I'm out on the road.

Good Option
A great option for people who want to record the inside of the car as well, great for taxi drivers, doing deliveries who may want to recordings for insurance etc. The inwards camera is good at picking up activity at the windows incase of attempted theft or break in etc. The quality of the video is pretty much standard across all dash cams as they all use the same CCTV sensor supplied by Sony. It is an odd device to place as the front camera is so wide you get allot of useless views of the top of your dash. Overall good value when on a deal /sale.

Overpriced dual lens dash camera with free safety camera alerts
The Garmin tandem is a compact dash cam with two 180 degree lenses. It comes with a measly 16GB micro SD card that I immediately changed for a 64GB card. Although the camera is compact it can't be hidden behind the rear view mirror because it will obscure the internal camera lens so it must be placed in clear view. This may be problematic on some vehicles because the camera will have to be installed a third or even halfway down the windscreen and may partially obscure the drivers vision. The fixing of the camera to the windscreen is by means of a metal adhesive disc so you only get one chance to locate the camera in the correct position. The camera doesn't have a screen and is reliant on the Garmin drive app for setup and playback and now includes a feature to update the software on the camera. Downloading the footage to a phone is easy but slow and it regularly drops the Wi-Fi connection between the devices. Downloading footage over 1 minute is better undertaken by connecting the camera or SD card direct to a computer. The new app is a major improvement over the previous Virb app and is a lot easier to use. After the initial connection to the app there were 2 software updates including one for safety cameras. Speed camera alerts are announced with a spoken message, "Safety camera ahead", but are difficult to hear even with the highest alert setting selected. There is no mention on the Garmin website or in the literature that comes with the camera that safety camera alerts are included which must be an oversight by Garmin. The footage from the front camera is average and trying to read a numberplate on a moving vehicle is almost impossible in all but dull overcast weather conditions. Reading number plates on stationary vehicles is okay so long as the vehicle is within approximately 10 metres. Fitting the Garmin polarising filter sharpens up the image dramatically but the frame of the filter crops the angle of view to around 140 degrees. The initial footage from the interior, rear facing camera, was very disappointing but adjusting the manual exposure to -1 improves the quality. The full 360 degree vision is very good and the picture in picture recordings are a nice feature. The audio is acceptable but there is no settings to reduce the recording level and a constant hissing sound can be heard in the background. The voice commands work well but a request to save a video only saves a 5 second preview and around 2 minutes of video after the request. This is a bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. The previous generation 45 and 55 cameras saved the previous 3minutes of video which was a lot better. The camera doesn’t have any type of internal power so it must be connected to the vehicle or special dash camera battery to work.WARNING!Spending any amount of time in the app reviewing and playing back footage causes a problem with the audio recording and all future recordings on the dash camera will not include audio. The only way I have found to resolve the problem is to delete the app and start afresh.Connecting the camera to the app also causes a problem with the bluetooth connection to my vehicle entertainment system and prevents playback of my music. The app remains connected via bluetooth to the camera even when the app is closed and the only way to resolve this is to fully turn off the vehicle entertainment system and wait 2 minutes before turning it back on. The problem exists in both of my vehicles so it must be a problem with the Garmin app.I have written to Garmin with regard to the above issues and have received an acknowledgement of receipt and a promise to get back to me within 2 working days but have received nothing. I have tried calling them but the wait times are far too long and have better things to do with my time.In summary, the Garmin Tandem works quite well but is more like a Beta device and way overpriced with no technical support. The only reason I purchased the camera was because it was heavily discounted. Thank you Amazon.

Reliable Dash Camera
I installed this Dash Camera on my SUV with minimal effort - sticking the camera below the rear view mirror and feeding the wire along the driver's side of the car into the boot where there is a 12v socket. The 4m cable and 12v-to-USB adapter - both included - makes this easy. There are no visible wires once installed - in most cars you can push the wire easily between the trim and frame of the vehicle (YouTube has tutorials for this). The camera itself is small and does not obstruct vision. Importantly, it needs to be placed in view of the driver so that the secondary camera can view the interior of the car. It cannot be installed behind the rear view mirror like other dash cameras.Image quality is good. It serves the purpose of being able to view number plates clearly. The microphone is very good - which can be used to record cabin sounds as well as make use of the voice commands (e.g. OK Garmin take picture/ save video). The corresponding app works well on my Samsung Note 10.The camera has a fan that keeps it cool - I have not been able to hear it.Overall, it is a very reliable camera that saves videos well, will not drain car battery, and (so far) works consistently.

Great piece of device, good value for money
It's a great piece of device that records both inside and outside with brilliant results. I initially had problems with connection issues but after a number of updates recently it is working fine.

This camera is in no shape worth the price considering poor performance
So I wanted 360cam, hence buying the Garmin Tandem for better protection. I just had Xiaomi 70mai which was excellent. Garmin Tandem looks nice and neat, you can feel Garmin quality. But thats about it. The camera offers wide angle front and back, but the resolution and dynamic range is extremely poor. The camera always adjust brightness based on the sky, thus making your dash very dark and hard to see. The quality of 1080/1440p is poor. In combination with wide angle , when you post crop you loose out on huge detail. My previous Xiaomi offered 2.7K, but even in 1080p image was a lot lot clearer. The parking function is poor too. I haven’t had any warnings yet, so I dont know what kind impact triggers that. Then the app connection is very buggy/intermittent. Connects then disconnects, so repeat the process. Downloading the footage is not as user friendly nor ideal. Hard to find the exact times and then download over the app are almost impossible due to such slow transfer. It has to be SD card out job. All in all, I will not return the camera as I need dual cam, but im disappointed in this garmin product. Chinese cheap €55 Xiaomi offers 5x better video quality, easier app, faster downloads and better notifications. I really hope Garmin might improve that with software update.
