A lovely pen.
I already had a VP but wanted to try the Fermo and I am happy I did. While the twist mechanism on the Fermo is not as quick or convenient as the knock mechanism on the VP, is offers a satisfying tactile experience when deploying and retracting the nib.

Well balanced and smooth!
I had been looking at getting a pilot pen for some time and when this one went on sale I knew I had to give it a try. I am so glad I did. This pen is so smooth! I got the Medium and it is perfect! It does not come with a converter so do be aware of that. You may need to buy one if you prefer a converter. The weight on this pen is great. Not too heavy, but not light either. it is well balanced and i prefer it so much more than the pilot vanishing points that i had been looking at. It just sits in the hand better. I also love the twist mechanism instead of the click. I highly recommend this pen for anyone looking for a pilot! Or any fountain pen.

A pen that should be better known!
I purchased the Fermo as I wanted an excellent pen for work, particularly in meetings (more on that later). As there is very little information about this pen, I would like to add in some Fermo specific details. Please note that I have fairly average sized male hands. References made with tip oriented down (bottom).Weight: 34 g overall. Upper barrel is 15 grams. Lower barrel is 13 g. Nib insert with half filled cartridge and metal cap is 6g. Typically, I have always likely a lighter pen, but I am not bothered by the weight of this one. It was, however, the first thing my wife noticed when handling it. (Her hands are only slightly smaller than mine).I’m not exactly certain of the material composition, but all structural components seem metal, including the textured nob at top. The only part of the internal plunger (that pushes don the nib when the nib is turned) that I can see is also metal.Center of gravity: A top heavy pen typically bothers me, and is also the reason I typically do not post the cap. This has less to do with weight, and more to do with where the weight is centered. It is true that the pen is slightly top heavy, but it actually has not bothered me. When the nib is retracted, the COG is almost exactly positioned at the two center rings (where the upper and lower barrel meet). When the nib is extended, the COG does move down about four mm to just below the “Pilot Fermo Japan” labeling. The 4mm make a substantial improvement for me. For this reason, I expect that individual hand size will greatly influence the suitability of this pen for each individual. The nib extends out ~7mm. The pinch point on the clip is about 19mm from the bottom of the barrel. The lower barrel is 76 mm long. The upper barrel is 65mm long. The screw type mechanism to extend the pen is all but silent, requiring a full 360° rotation to extend. There is spring resistance for the first ~300°, and it essentially requires two hands to twist open. I do easily close it with one hand as it only requires ~60° of rotation until the spring action takes over, and the nib zips inside.I have used a different fountain pen everyday for over a year at work, and found it slightly frustrating to be capping and uncapping during the meetings. This pen was a welcome relief, and a joy to write with!

Excellent purchase
As usual this Pilot Fermo , just like all the other Pilots I have is an excellent writer , very smooth and great value for money . IMO you just can't go wrong with a pilot . I use daily in my journal . I chose the dark blue color and it is very nice . Filled it with Pilot Iroshizuku Kon-Peki , a great pairing . I didn't have to wait very long for it to be delivered . Thank you to the seller for great service .

Great pen! (doesn't come with a converter)
I had a vintage (70s) Vanishing Point and really liked it, but didn't want to wear it excessively by carrying it all the time. I was going to get a newer one, but this one caught my eye. It's slimmer than a VP but about the same as the vintage one, and might compare with a Decimo (I don't have one). The pen has a nice, wet nib and very smooth, especially for a Japanese fine nib. It shipped very quickly and came along with my order that was placed the same day. It came in a standard Japanese-style plastic Pilot case with paperwork, tags, an empty cartridge (not a converter), and a full Pilot cartridge. I already had some Pilot green cartridges on hand and am using that so far; by starting with the OEM's ink, I can be assured the pen is writing as intended by the manufacturer. One thing I like over the VP is that the extension/retraction mechanism is very responsive and quiet. (In meetings you don't want to click a pen all the time, and I felt I needed to do that during non-writing periods to be sure I wasn't drying out the nib.) This pen has good heft without feeling heavy; it just feels like quality. All in all, this was a great purchase and excellent purchase experience. I'm a happy customer.

HAPPY
Great pen at a reasonable price. Lightweight to hold, nib writes smoothly and ink flows well. Black is an elegant appearance. Love turning the knob to release nib rather than having to twist the pen body like other pens. There are other vanishing nib pens out there but at a much higher cost. No need to go there with this Pilot available. It's medium nib does the job well but I prefer my fountain pens with a broad nib. Wish they offered one in this model.

Fermo for the win, who knew!
This is my 1st Fermo medium point, my EDC is a Pilot VP 2021 limited Black Ice (which I love), The Fermo is evry very bit as nice. I am very impressed. No suprise but the the 18k NIB yields to a very nice, supple and smooth writing experience. For the price you honestly cannot go wrong. If your looking for a capless Fountain Pen look no further. It has some weight, which is a positive for me because it sits in my hand very nicely. I must say I am very pleasantly suprised by this pen. I included a picture with a small writing example. I am by no means an expert and apologize for the low light because you can't really see the deep emerald green of this pen. It's actually very nice.
