High Quality, Fun, and Educational
I bought this for my son who has autism and is mostly non-verbal. My son wasn't interested in putting this together but I enjoyed it quite a bit! He did spend quite a bit of time playing with it experimenting with putting in the pegs and creating different sounds. High Quality, Fun, and works very well-educational too.

Can play only a few measures of music, fun building it, though
Our young granddaughter enjoyed building this music box, then "programing" it with the little pegs, to play songs. The only problem is that the number of beats of a song it can play is very limited.

Educational for older children and all can use it!
I got two of these. I sent one to my grandchildren in Michigan and gave the other to my grandchildren living in the next town. They are young enough that their parents had to assist with assembly, but the finished product can be used by all but the youngest. It makes a pleasing sound. They like it as much as I do.

Great Educational Craft!
This appears to be a great educational craft. Pieces are well made and well organized. Instructions are detailed, understandable, and very colorful. The concept is exceptional. It appears to be a great challenge to put together but I believe a sharp child or sharp adult can master the assembly without any problem. I've looked the product over and am well pleased with all I've observed. I confess it's not put together yet because I'm waiting on my grandson to return from a trip so that we can assemble the craft together as a Grandfather/Grandson project. I'm looking forward to getting started and hope to do a second updated review when the project is completed. I think it will turn out well.

STEM+music
Kids age 5-9 loved it. Be gentle as you pop out the pieces from little frames so they don't break.

Poorly made product for price
This product is difficult to assemble and the poorly made cardboard pieces break apart and cannot be repaired. If you try to glue them it makes the part too heavy to operate and renders the entire product unusable.

Needs adult assistance
It’s super cool, but wasn’t easy for my child to assemble and the pegs really hurt the thumbs. They are not able to remove them without adult.

He loved it grandson 11 yrs old. Built it himself. Wish music was louder. Keep making more of these. He did four.

Awesome DIY project: mechanical skills and creativity in music
This is one of the nicest purchase that we have done for the children recently. It engaged the children for a good three hours. The step-by-step, illustrated guide book that comes with the product has clear instructions for assembling the xylophone. The book has a few suggested music and their corresponding position for the pegs. Someone who understands music can alter the peg positions and create their own music. We have created and recorded several music for some common nursery rhymes and even Brahm's Lullaby. We will be happy to share them with others if anyone is interested. I have other Smartivity products. I am impressed with their quality, the efforts and thoughts that goes into creating them. Thank you is the least I can say to the creators.

Disappointed
We bought as a gift. After a few weeks of construction, the rubber bands disintegrated, we replaced with spares, but this continued until the item could not be used. Great fun project, but ruined by the fact the bands were poor quality.

Interesting and Quality item
I had ordered this item to present it for my nephew’s birthday and he liked it pretty well. Best part of the show is, building/assembling the Music machine and Peg holder with the provided BoM (child parts). Product assembly instructions are very clearly provided and quality of each small pieces/child items are very good. The only sad part is, I have received only 7 sound plates and 1 plate is missing from the package. I have raised the request in Smartivity platform for the same. Overall, it's a very interesting product and keeps the kid engaging throughout it’s construction. Music sounded very inline with the song. At last, prepare the notes and play the music as you wish!!

Very good product
This is the second smartivity do-it-yourself toy I bought. Both my daughters 8, and 5 were excited and built it almost on their own. My help was more to stop their arguments than doing much to build the toy. The instructions are written in plain, simple English (good exercise also in reading), the diagrams in the instructions are helpful. it took about 2 and 1/2 hours for them to complete the assembly (please remember there were arguments among them during the assembly which is included in the 150 minutes). once the toy is assembled the fun does not end there. the instruction book has a few songs with peg positions, so even after the toy is complete they are buys changing the pegs and producing different songs. very happy with the product. please note that the photos do not have the pegs, they have been removed and kept in a peg box, which is also a part of the toy (not included in the photo)
