Awesome Bible
I recently decided to become even more officially middle aged by buying large print Bibles to help with the middle age bonus of worse vision than you already dealt with your whole life. It’s great isn’t it? I decided to take the opportunity to try out new translations as well. I still have almost a dozen options in the house between me and my husband’s collections, but they weren’t meeting my want for an easy to *read* and just *enjoy* the Bible more like a general book to read… they feel more like reading a textbook (NASB, ESV, NET, etc) or they have undergone one too many revisions to where I no longer like what’s currently in print (NIV), or just clunky (AMP, KJV). So I found a free online Parallel Bible website and tried a bunch and the NLT kept being the column that I was most enjoying. It was just easy and comfortable and enjoyable but most of all inviting… I wanted to keep reading without effort, it was just different enough to my “ear” to feel new again without being so new/different to feel foreign (like paraphrase translations like MSG, Passion, the original Living Bible). It also didn’t feel like I was being given a simpler translation like I was a kid (NRIV). This was the Goldilocks translation I wanted as my daily bedside reader. I also really like the NLT’s use of subject/transition headings so you can more easily find specific stories/events and have a better idea of when/where is a good stopping point when reading for leisure.I picked this specific edition for when I want to read with study notes or when I’m researching something. It’s been a long time since I have purchased a Life Application so it’s been nice to see all the new editions. The formatting and use of color has made this much easier to find the Study sections and easier to mentally drop in and out of the Scriptures or to visually ignore the Study parts altogether. As for this printing I find the font size to be comfortable to read the text and the notes. The cover is beautiful and feels sturdy enough. The dimensions are a little bigger than anything else I own, mostly in the thickness. I definitely prefer this supported on a pillow or on a table, especially if I need to jump around in the pages. But it’s tolerable in just my hands for straight through reading. You could take this to church but you’d probably want a purse or satchel to carry it around with. if you want something large print to read in church or take on vacation or to take out in public to read I’d highly recommend the larger print options in the Filament version where the study notes are in a phone app so the physical Bible can be printed in smaller dimensions. That’s also a great way to dive in the read without being distracted or overwhelmed or intimidated by the notes (which is a great gift Bible or starter Bible for a new Believer or first time cover to cover reader). The paper is decent enough quality. It’s a little on the thin side to reduce weight and size of the book. Ghosting is not an issue in good lighting and hardly noticeable with a good clip on book light. In bad lighting you may need to lift up the page you’re reading and let it gently fall back into place so it’s not completely pressed into the underlying page, or use a blank piece of printer or cardstock paper (which doubles as a bookmark) as a blotter page behind the page you’re reading if you’re really sensitive to it. I use pencil and Frixion Pastel Highlighters in Bibles and that works well on this paper with minimal ghosting (especially if you overlap coats) but no bleed through (however, erasing Frixion Highlighter causes the paper to pucker and a faint amount of discoloration will remain).I really think they did a great job of balancing out all the possible pros and cons this kind of print edition has to contend with. The cost seems a little inflated compared with the discounts I often see on their similarly oversized Bibles in other editions but in the end I’m still happy with it because the content is worth it.

Life changing
(This is a long review)This is byfar the best Bible I've ever owned. I have at least 6 others. How do I explain this Bible? It's like the 'idiots" guide to the Bible, but 100 times better. I've bought a lot of those "the Bibles for dummies" "idiots guide to the Bible" type books over the years because the Bible (to me) is so frickin hard to understand, and at times, boring (no offense) I mean it's written many many moons ago, and very hard to understand how they spoke back then, or the way they described things. The Bible to me is like Shakespeare on steroids, I just don't "get it". But that wasn't until I got this Bible. This book was so well written and planned out by people and authors, pastors, etc, that have devoted their entire lives and careers to the word of God.Every single chapter (book) in the Bible has an introduction that's so well written out and easy to understand. It breaks down the counties, cities that the people of the Bible are from. It explains who they are, what they did, their purpose on the earth, and how they compare to us in todays world. It gives exact time lines of when every thing and everyone came into creation, but explains in much more detail than just the regular Bible's that we've been reading for years do.The most amazing part of this Bible is the bottom section of each page. In this section is an entire breakdown of what each verse means. It's explains how things back then apply to us still in todays world. But it explains it in a way that isn't scary, or makes you doubt things. For instance, we know that "serpent" didn't necessarily mean "snake" when speaking about Satan, so it breaks it down in more easier terms that we can understand, and gives you a sign of peace really. It allows you to form your own opinion of the Bible without feeling any guilt or shame.I've been back and forth with the Bible my entire life, but just gave up all together because of all of the "fire and brimstone" type nonsense that others have projected into me with their beliefs. The Bible (no offense) always seemed negative and scary to me, so I just gave up...until this Bible, and now I'm back.Yes it's still written exactly how all Bibles are written, but because of all of the amazing extra work these contributers have added to it, I'm no longer scared to sit and read the Bible anymore. In fact, this particular one has encouraged me to read more, AND read every day. I don't feel guilty or fearful when I read through this thing because it doesn't make you feel pressured or threatened in any way.I'm sure you can tell by my review that I'm not a die hard religious person. I've always been on the sidelines about the whole thing, but still believed, just didn't use it in my daily life like I should have. This Bible has changed my mind about what's real and what's not.I made the best decision of my life in buying this Bible. It has helped me and completely changed my beliefs. If you're someone like me who has been sitting on the sidelines knowing what you should be doing but we're just to scared to do it, buy this Bible. It will get rid of that fear of God, or feeling like you're going to be in limbo you're whole life.If you've always believed, but weren't 100% a believer, but want to change that and get right with God, get this Bible.Whats the worst thing that could happen? You don't like it and return it. But I highly doubt that will happen if you're someone who's been searching your whole life but we're too afraid to make the move. You owe it to yourself to check it out.I have the large print edition, which has 3229 pages. I've included pictures.Only one negative (not so negative) opinion I have, is that the pages are very very thin. If you buy Bible tabs make sure you buy very lightweight flimsy ones. I bought ones because I thought they were cute. However, they are kinda hard and like cardboard, so they weigh down the page and have cause several pages to wrinkle. My mistake, not the publishers. But I love the tabs I got and I'm just careful with them when going through each chapter. Also, this Bible weighs 5lbs. You could literally use it as a hand weight lol. So now I've made the joke that I'm "getting in shape with God" killing to birds with one stone, lolBUY this. You won't regret it. I'm so much happier and more chill and less fearful because I finally have a Bible I can understand.

Has practically everything easy to understand
I bought this Bible for my friend who is just starting his walk with God. It’s Giant print good size. I like the lay out of this Bible and has time lines, maps & red lettering for when Jesus speaks. It’s easy to understand and I like the layout how it explains things. Plus it’s NLT which is the easiest to understand version in my opinion. I want to buy one for myself and others. This one bible has a lot and it’s a fantastic buy and worth the price.

Life Application study Bible NLT
The best Bible I have ever owned. I will start with the only negative, if you get a large print as I did it is a chunky baby so if you can read the 8.5 font get that, but the information in this Bible is why. It is chalked full of useful information.I got the teal Bible and it is beautiful. Let us start with the information in each book. It says who wrote it, who they wrote it to and the purpose in the writing. It gives breakdowns of what is actually in the book, the main them of the book, a timeline, and a main key verse. There is a cross reference, a concordance, a dictionary and of course in the commentary a lot of life applications. And something I literally love is the personal information on many key people in the books and info on their personalities.I absolutely loooove this Bible I just wished someone could hold it for me while I read it.I broke down and bought the 8.5 font version and more magnification in my readers. This Bible is the best I have owned so somehow I am going to make this work without having to lug the large print.P.S getting old sucks. I can see the kindle version being a good option for those owning a kindle
