Updated version of a classic
250 HOURS of backup light. Need I say more?It uses 3x AA alkaline batteries. NOT rechargeables Let's get that out of the way. And that's a GOOD THING! This won't become e-waste when the batteries go bad. Just swap them with new, standard AA batteries, and it's good for another 250 hours. This is also WHY it's able to achieve 250 hours. In case you run into a serious power problem (like the grid being down for weeks after a hurricane), this means you can just swap batteries and keep going. There used to be a lot of lights like this back in the 1990s and 2000s. This is a nice update to those, replacing the incandescent bulbs with warm-white, almost incandescent-like LEDs rather than the harsh blue LEDs you find in many cheap offshore products. The only negatives I can come up with are: 1) Even on DIM, they're still quite bright. A few dimmer settings would be nice. 2) You can't have it stay off at night and come on when the power fails. Whichever night light setting you have selected is the brightness used when the power goes out. Thus, if you have the night light set to OFF, it won't automatically turn on when the power fails. The negatives aren't huge, but did require I move them to the hallway rather than in my bedroom. I like them enough that I've bought more and given to my relatives. In Florida, power outages and hurricanes happen. These will get you through those without a problem.

Minor packaging issue.
Works as described. Light can be off, lo, or high.Only issue is the packaging. The plastic pull tab to activate the batteries is on the negative terminal under the spring. It DOES NOT pull out easy. You have to open the battery door remove one battery, and put it all back together when done. But this is a minor packing issue. The night light illuminates nicely.

These lights have been awesome!! I can say they do in fact work in emergencies. I had a house fire two days ago, and the power has been off since. These guys survived the fire, and are still shining strong with the original batteries!

Love being able to use my own lithium batteries...better that rechargables! Incl nightlight mod.
These are PERFECT! LOVE THEM! The typical emergency lights you find online are the "rechargeable" types that are useless after about a year due to the non-replaceable rechargeable batteries just not holding a charge any longer, and even when they are new, only provide several minutes of light before they die out. After finding these on Amazon, I am very pleased! I can put in my own Energizer Lithium batteries (3 AA) and they have a shelf life of 10 years! And when the power goes out, they will provide light for days instead of minutes. The only "con" is that that there is no way to disable the nightlight feature without modification. Supposedly, the nightlight uses power from the wall socket and not the batteries, but I didn't want the nightlight burning regardless. So, I read a post from a person named NORCAL_AV8OR (see in reviews below) for a modification to disable the nightlight feature...and it WORKS!MODIFICATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISABLING NIGHTLIGHT FEATURE:First, just remove the back of the unit using a specialized Y-Type screwdriver (I ordered a set on Amazon). They are called "Fongmore 4 Pcs Y Type Y3 Y4 Y5 Y6 Screwdriver Set" and are 4 blue handled screwdrivers Y-type). The set was about 10 bucks but worth it. After removing the 4 Y-Type screws, then pop the back off and find the little light sensor at the bottom connected to the circuit board with two small wires with black insulation. Just cut off the little sensor near the top, leaving the two small gauge wires and slide off the black insulation. Then, just solder on a 3K ohm resistor in its place. Here is the title of the pack of resistors I ordered from Amazon:"YOKIVE 100 PCS Carbon Film Resistors, 1/4W 3K Ohm 5% Tolerances Resistor, Good for DIY Electronic Projects (4 Color Band, 1.77x0.09-Inch)" It was only 5 bucks for the pack of many resistors. After soldering, I didn't bother insulating the tiny wires as I didn't see the need. I just kinda pushed it over out of the way so it would bump against the back cover. After the delicate operation, I gave it a try and damn if it didn't work! Now it just stays off (no nightlight) and only comes on if there is a power outage. Now I plan to order more of these and modify them accordingly.

Power outage necessity
Perfect power outage lighting. Also serves as a nightlight. Long-lasting but eventually you will have to change the batteries.

Good value for the money
You never know when the power will go out. These were cheap enough to put one in every room of the house. Bright enough to get out of bed or recliner and find a bigger light if you need one.

Good night light and flashlight.
The media could not be loaded. Love this light. I use it for my hall, which is always dark even during daylight.. It function pretty good and there’s no flickering. The brightness is good. I had it for a few months and is still functional. Will be getting more. Oh! I forgot to say, it also functions as a little flashlight for power outages.
