The calendering process makes a tightly woven lightweight fabric more fiber proof and wind resistant. To achieve these desired traits the fabric is run between heated rollers to flatten and "shingle" each fiber. Once a high grade DWR (druable water repellant) is applied the resulting fabric is highly resitant to the elements and incredibly strong for its weight.Sewn Through ConstructionIn sewn-through construction, stitch lines go from the exterior of the garment directly to the lining material to join the two layers, creating small pockets for down insulation.
