Perfect...
This tool is perfect. The spring has the right tension, it has a lock to keep it closed, and most important is strips little tiny wires great. One thing I especially like about this item is that the 'bumps' between the wire grooves are rounded off instead of being pointed. This is really handy, especially with smaller wires as the rounded edges help guide the wires in instead of chopping parts of them off if your not perfectly aligned.I personally like the stamped notch labels as they will never wear out. I don't have any problems reading them but if you do you may wipe them with a bright paint marker, nail polish, or white-out to obtain more contrast.I've had these almost a year now and they are still working well. So well I just ordered another pair so I can keep one on my bench and one at my solder station. The cutter on my first pair is a little worn now because I used them to trim through hole component leads. Don't do this to yours....I found out the hard way some component leads are not soft copper and clipping them with these cutters will damage the blade. The damaged blade isn't the fault the tool, it is the product of my abuse. These are strippers, not diagonals or flush cutters so if you use them for what they are intended for they work great. If your looking for a flush cutter check out the Hakko CHP-170, they have hardened jaws that clip right through component leads with ease. The bottom line is I would (and did) buy these again and I would recommend them to a friend.

Worked well for stripping 26 AWG silicone wire
I did a few PicoBoot GameCube mods and had to get some wire and wire strippers (I usually solder boards, not wires). These worked quite well for me. I lined up my wire with the indent labeled with the right size, stuck a bit through, squeezed, and pulled. I'm not an expert on wire strippers, but these feel high quality and easy to use. They will probably last me a lifetime unless I lose them.

Great quality, well worth the money
The media could not be loaded. Very high quality strippers! I have never been let down by Hakko's hand tools. I own these wire strippers as well as Hakko nose pliers and wire cutters. The hand grips are very comfortable, and opening and closing the strippers is extremely smooth. I have had no trouble at all with stripping small gauge wires. The grips are non-slip so you don't have to ever worry about them slipping out of your hands. I use this for my electronics hobby so I'm primarily stripping gauges that are around 24AWG. I've included a video of me stripping a 30AWG stranded wire. These strip every gauge its rated for just fine. It strips very cleanly with no marring of the core wire(s). I know there are a few reviews complaining about having troubles with thin wires, but I honestly do not know how they could be having any troubles at all. I'm tempted to think it could be user error. These have worked flawlessly for me so far. Also, my favorite feature is the ability to keep these strippers half-open. Using the metal stopper, you can let them open up all the way, only half way, or stay completely closed. Keeping the strippers from opening up fully is very useful because when you're stripping thin wires, there's never a need to open them up completely (unless you're going to start using the wire cutters in back). This extra movement to open and close just increases the work your hands end up doing since you really only need to open them very slightly--just enough to get the wires into place. This feature makes stripping wires even more pleasurable!

Save your teeth!
Dummy that I am, I've been stripping wire with my front teeth for more decades than I like to concede. On a whim I decided to splurge on this stripper. Boy, do I feel like an idiot! This is a much easier tool to use, won't poison you with plastic and mineral compounds, won't scratch the enamel off your teeth, and lets you see exactly how much insulation you're stripping away.In all seriousness, and as a practical matter, I wanted to try write-wrapping and simply couldn't strip 30 gauge wire with my teeth. This tool works great even on that smallest gauge, and inadvertently cuts the end off only one time in ten, probably due to my noob fumblings. For the rest of my wires, sure, my teeth work fine, but this is just as quick, and a better example to set for my kids.

Sharp, but not spectacular
These cut really well - they are very sharp and feel well built (smooth hinge), but as others have pointed out, the dies are not very precise. On mine, 24 is a horizontal oval, 30 is a vertical oval. The others look decently round. The lock is also pretty floppy and can sometimes fall into place right before you squeeze, frustrating and time consuming. So for me, I've ended up using these quite often, but I have to use them slowly, with caution, to feel if they're cutting into the copper.

Super high quality wire stripper.
I bought this for stripping 30 AWG kynar wire and it works fantastically to strip the insulation off the wire without nicking it. I have a few other Hakko tools from this series and they are all really good value for the money.

The Bees Knees
It’s made stripping tiny wires a simple process. The gauge markings are hard to read and should be infilled.
