great kit
great piece of kit! I wouldn't be without this on cable jobs. much safer than making cables live and using a Volt-stick.

It works, good as you'd need.
Have used the platinum grade toners and this does same job. Comes with a bag you cannot see so no need to buy extra. Don't forget rj45 female to female adapter for plugging to cables (rather than outlets).

Nice except for packaging
Good bit of kit - works well. Have docked them a point for shipping it in a nasty blister pack, though.

Best affordable toner ive used
This is the best affordable toner set i have used. From the moment you hold it you feel its quality. It beats the cheapo ones i have used previously.I cannot compare it to the Fluke series as I have not owned any fluke products yet.

Worth the money - real problem solver
I had a fault somewhere on a ring main. I split every connection and then using the cable tracer was able to trace the cables and find the fault. Indispensable

Does NOT so what it says on the packaging
First the positive.Very robust construction, could easily survive a gentle drop from table height, and I like the LED function with the included storage pouch but...TOTALLY not suitable for RJ45 network cabling, I do NOT recommend, and this is my personal experience.The alligator clips are strong and grip well but obviously not for CAT5 /6 etc. there's an RJ11 which is only good for USA POTS to determine normal or reverse polarity that's it. (not good for testing only 4/5 of RJ45 in a CAT5 /6 environment)As for the main function, for individual wires, need to be very careful about selecting and pairing the tone generator's alligator clips to pair (or single wire to be tested plus earth for black clip) and even with this option the probe has a poor "rejection" when attempting to trace from a bundle of individual wires in a conduit a background white noise against a faint tone. And if there's a short other than showing this on the tone generator can't be traced at all. (can use a multi meter for this anyway.)Only works on non energized cable so can't be used for automotive without disconnecting the black negative lead from the battery.In summary only works for half what it's described to do and that, not very well either.I will investigate on the Trend Micro VDV II PRO and the Fluke Intellitone 200 as (much more expensive) alternatives.
