Great outlet to protect your electronics
This is a great device to use for plugging in a tv or other electronic item, so it will trip this instead of breaking your device if there's an electric surge that would otherwise damage your property. This box is fairly thick, so it's not something you want to plug into just any old outlet as it'll look really weird - but if you have an out of the way outlet where you plug in your electronics, this is a nice device to use because it doesn't add any cords to trip over.

High quality power plug for protection against power surges
Works great and is easy to install. Very solidly built and has 3 lights that indicate if the product and the electrical line are working properly. I use it in my laundry room to plug in my washer. No problems so far.

Netgear PLP2000 AC Network - fix A/C line noise from window Air Conditioner
My initial look of this ISOBARs, thought was an over-priced antique, it turns out, this is exactly what i needed. My NetGear PLP2000 Network AC line adapter, this is my primary source of wired-internet to for my daily work @ home environment with descent speed and low ping, our internet modem is located in far end of a fairly big square ft home property, WiFi is not a solution for me, so i have two of these PLP2000 at both far end points.Recently i have purchased an "LG Dual-Inverter window AC". Even though the LG AC system is 25% lower energy consumption than Energy Star compliant, but when it kicks in, it still effects the PLP2000 in any of the outlets in my room and causing internet bandwidth to drop real low! After installing this to my AC system, this power line ISOBAR2 fixes that room's power outlets instantly and any of the adjacent wall where my network adapter is plugged in and thus restored my network speed back optimal while AC is actively on for the brief moment. - all lights are GREEN!Looking forward to get a few more knowing that it fixes my room, im going to assume both end points where there are heavy power draws it is ideal to add one of these things. including microwaves and such.hopefully will last for years to come, i know Triplite has been around for their quality reputations.

Good unit if you don't need more then 2 plug ins and don't want a cord
I purchased this and also the 4 outlet version that has a cord with it. They are both nice units and worked (at least all the lights came on)out of the box. I am using this one on an elliptical machine and have the other hooked up to my treadmill. This 2 plug unit does stick out from the wall just about 2.5", but as it lacks a cord it actually has a lot of uses (and takes up far laess space) despite its sticking out so far. The 4 outlet unit I have for the treadmill has to sit on the floor due to the plug in. That isn't a problem where the treadmill is, but it wasn't the best solution for my elliptical, hence this 2 outlet version. If you want something that has protection it will have a little bulk to it. I don't think it looks bad once installed. It has a single plug in behind the upper outlet and a rubber bumper backing the lower one. It is designed to plug into the bottom of your two house outlets so you end up with a unprotected upper house outlet and then the two protected outlets from this unit below. You can however plug it into the top outlet if you so desire. When I say designed for the lower one, its just the rubber bumper fits better against the wall then the lower outlet and the locking mechinism is designed to use the outlet cover's center screw. The tripp lite locking piece screws into the home outlets center screw and then the tripp lite unit has a slot on top that slides into the metal bracket now protruding from the outlet. A second screw then goes through the bracket into the surge protector. Works well and is easier to install then it is to explain how it works.Overall seems to be a good choice and will hopefully protect the unit I have it hooked into which is the primary purpose I wanted it for. The electronics are pretty basic (but the unit itself spendy hence the reason for the surge protector) and I cannot comment on the line noise supression performance of this unit as that wasn't an issue I had that needed adressing.

Excellent Surge Insurance Value
This is a replacement for the same one (with apparently negligible manufacturer changes - such as screw size) I purchased a few years back. The first one still works, but I dropped it on a hard floor, and the plastic directly around the prongs broke, so they wiggle a bit now. It still works fine, but am concerned about electrical safety, so will keep the broken one as a spare/backup.Since an HP laptop cord with included surge protector costs 2-3x to replace what this does, this seems wise. (Unrelated - have had multiple HP surge/protector cords get loose off/on wiring through normal use: feh.) Plus, one can plug another item in for protection at the same time.It comes with a small, form-fitting, semi-flexible plastic cover to keep the prongs from scratching anything when not plugged in. One wishes it came with a spare. So when plugged in, always set the prong cover on top of the device, so you don't lose it. I keep the device cinched in a Crown Royal bag for travel. That way if the prong cover comes off, the prongs won't scratch anything, and the small cover can be found in the bottom of the bag.Additionally, where I rent, some of the outlets have faults of unknown nature. How do I know? Because the red Fault light on this puppy lit up. Same happened at a Starbucks in Boise. Another customer told me his laptop surge protector got really hot in that outlet. So I don't use those outlets. It may be worth buying one of these just to test outlets before signing a rental agreement.Knocked one star off because: Plastic portion on the back broke on the original, and this one also has plastic there.
