Quickest way to cycle your tank.
Used this to cycle my fish tank. Worked well and took all the guesswork out of the process.

Great for fishless cyclijg
I wouldn't cycle an aquarium any other way. Fishless cycles are the only way to do this without harming or stressing your fish, and this ammonium source works. Obviously don't use this with fish in the tank! Note that some ammonia detection methods (like the SeaChem ammonia alert) won't show ammonium chloride and only detect free base ammonia. The standard API test kit does detect ammonium chloride.

Easy to do a fishless cycle with this
Followed the instructions and together with a combination of various bacteria products quickly and easily performed a fish less cycle on two tanks. Simpler and cleaner than trying to do it with adding fish food.

Good but very high dosage recommendations
Very good but very high dosage recommendations. After first week or so reduce the dosage significantly, keep up with your large water changes & if you aren't getting anywhere remove 25% of your biological media and rinse it under the tap for a few minutes to intentionally kill off some of the bacteria which deals with the Ammonia. This will then give room for the nitrifying bacteria to grow to take care of the nitrites

Does what it's supposed to
Probably the best way to cycle a tank as your not causing any harm or stress to your fish. Just not so sure it's as quick as advertised, which wasn't an issue for me as I wasn't in any hurry. However tank is now cycled and water quality perfect for fish. Still going to take my time building up the fish load just to ensure good bacteria growth.

It really helps to cycle quicker!
I really like this product. It was taking me ages to get ammonia up to actually see the bacteria working, so this speed it up really, and got it really in 7 days instead of 14 because I started like 3 weeks before but my ammonia never went up, so this kicked it up. I'm using this now every time I'll setup a new tank.

Couldn't be easier!
Very happy with this as always. Decent enough value, there's enough in the bottle to fully cycle at least an 160L tank. The directions are straight forward and you can find them on the dr tims website. I've tried other household ammonias in the aquarium before and find even those that say they are dilute ammonia only do not always work - varying concentrations perhaps. This works brilliantly for me because you simply add one drop per litre in the aquarium to increase the ppm by 2 when directed by the online guide.

Fantastic product!
Fantastic product with easy-to-use instructions. I cannot recommend this enough! It helped my cycle a ton and I should've gone with this product instead of littering my entire fish tank with fish food and hoping it would do something.

Worked perfectly for cycling tank without fish
Used this and Tetra safe start to cycle my aquarium in 16 days. I followed the instructions from Dr Tim’s exactly. Glad it was affordable too since I couldn’t find anything in stores.

Great for Beginner Aquarists looking to cycle their tank!
I have used Dr. Tim’s Ammonium Chloride in two separate tanks. First my 5-gallon freshwater tank, and now my 10-gallon and it worked exactly as advertised. This product is perfect for anyone doing a fishless cycle using bottled nitrifying bacteria. ✅ Pros: Accurate dosing: The included dropper cap makes it easy to measure the right amount. The instructions are clear—4 drops per gallon for 2 ppm of ammonia. Safe & pure: No added dyes or surfactants that could harm beneficial bacteria. Speeds up cycling Great for beginners: It helps to follow the schedule instead of guessing if it is working or not. This is not a stand-alone cycling product—you’ll need to add a nitrifying bacteria culture or have an established filter for faster cycling. Test your water regularly with a liquid test kit to monitor progress. I love the API Freshwater Kit. If you're serious about fishless cycling, Dr. Tim’s Ammonia is a reliable and safe option that gives you full control over the process. It took the stress out of my first fish tank cycle, and I’d definitely use it again for future setups.
