Thriving with ADHD Workbook for Teens: Improve Focus, Get Organized, and Succeed Review: Helpful advice - Helpful advice for handling teens with ADHD Review: Effective tool - This workbook really got my 17 year old thinking about what she needed to do differently to be successful in college. It’s written with the intent to encourage introspection and it was effective in getting her to do that. It also helped her understand that she is not alone in this world with this diagnosis, and people she knows who are highly successful have it as well. I have seen a lot of purposeful improvements in her effort to work towards “adulting”. We both read it and had weekly discussions about her thoughts and she did a couple reflection papers. Thank you for a very effective tool for my daughter.

Worth taking a look at.
First let me say that I was sent this book by the publisher with the expectation that I would give an honest review of its content. I have 2 sons who have been diagnosed with ADHD and have taken medication for years. My oldest son is now 21 and no longer takes medication, choosing to try other means to control his attention deficit in his job. My younger son is 19 and chose to stop medication when he graduated high school. He is now in classes to become an EMT and has used this workbook to develop new tools to focus and control his behavior in class and at work. This book has helped him learn what areas are triggers for his ADHD to become a bigger factor in his learning, how to address those triggers and create a plan to put into motion to allow him to live a productive life in school and on the job without medication. The only downfall to the book is that it is a great deal of reading and with a child who has ADHD, that can e a stumbling block for them.

Finally helping my daughter with ADHD
This provided me with valuable information on how to assist my daughter with improving her study techniques and hopefully improve her grades.... I am hopeful this will make her struggle with school work less of a burden this upcoming school year. The concepts are easy and just need some reminders on what to do when certain situations present themselves. My daughter in working on the concepts now so come fall - she will be able to apply what this book has taught her.

Great resource
This book is a great resource for my teen with ADHD. It contains helpful ideas and strategies. It is interactive by having the reader think about which strategies would work for them. My son read this quickly. I would recommend this to others for sure.

Really good, but...
I got this for my 14-year-old and purchased a second copy for her therapist. They work on it in session. I did this because if I had tried to review it with my daughter, there would have been eye rolling and tension; if I asked my daughter to do it for herself, it wouldn’t have happened. Great book - but I wouldn’t trust a teen to do it on their own.

I was hoping for something that would be more engaging for my son. He has zero interest in doing the actual activities in this book, but he did read through most of it and it did prompt him to understand that some organization in his bedroom would be a better thing. So we are working together to act on that. I think it opened his eyes on a couple of things, and it did for me too.

Not a bad workbook, especially compared to some of the ADHD workbooks out there. Useful and informative. Did have a bit of a downside when showing it to my mum, the book is very much “you can completely overcome your ADHD by learning to be more organised” etc. (That’s not an actual quote btw). So my mum took that literally and thinks my ADHD is just me not trying hard enough and that I need to train my brain.. Which of course, doesn’t hurt but I needed her to understand how intense and difficult ADHD can be and I dont think this book gets that across. However, it’s a very useful book and does what it says.
