Best known for his role as the 'Pink Panther'; this was Peter Sellers last film. Sellers plays two roles - the evil Fu Manchu and his nemesis, Scotland Yard's Nayland Smith. Manchu is celebrating his 168th birthday when one of his assistants spills the last of his anti-aging potion. He sends his assistants out to gather the materials needed to make more potion - including the Star of Leningrad Diamond. This alerts the authorities who set up a plan to get Manchu to kidnap a decoy Queen of England.

Sellers' Last Hurrah
"The Fiendish Plot of Dr. Fu Manchu" will not be remembered as one of Peter Sellers' finest cinematic achievements. However, it features a priceless Sellers performance. As detective Nayland Smith, he gives a beautifully detailed and touching portrayal — even better than his affectionate tribute to Fu Manchu. The 1980 film remains a hit-or-miss affair, yet boasts a good cast (particularly Helen Mirren as Constable Alice Rage) and vibrant Technicolor cinematography. Though it doesn't approach the heights of "Dr. Strangelove" and "Being There," the amusing "Fu Manchu" has a "Goon Show" spirit that seems more appropriate for a Sellers swan song.

This movie is an enjoyable campy rompwith an ending that will make you grin...or groan. Peter Sellers Freewheels the part in one of his last movie roles. All Peter Sellers Fans should own this movie! It is pretty tongue in cheek and doesnt even take itself very seriously, but thats a plus!It can be a party movie....IF youre up for a challenge of your hosting skills.If youre an elderly asian guy who wants to take over the world This IS the movie for you! Many critics have been too harsh on this film. Granted it isnt the Greatest movie of all, but It does havethat Peter Sellers wit and style!

Nostalgie de Peter SELLERS
Il faut avouer qu'il est difficile de trouver la moindre trace de ce film sorti au cinéma et disparu depuis.Lorsque vous faites la biographie de Peter SELLERS, il est rare de le trouver dans la liste. Ce n'est qu'en format cassette vidéo que j'ai enfin pu revoir ce film dont j'avais un bon souvenir.S'il a un peu vieilli, ce film est pourtant une bonne caricature des séries du Dr Fu Manchu et ne démérite pas des autres films de Peter SELLERS, à moins de vouloir partir dans le snobisme.Il est dans la droite lignée des films du genre "Casino Royal" avec David NIVEN.Dommage qu'il ne soit pas retranscrit sur DVD.
