Does the peay smell lie lighter fluid

I am assuming you are asking if the peat smells like lighter fluid... But words are hard. However, no. The "peay" does nor smell "lie" lighter fluid. It smells of burning peat.

Does the packaging give away the contents?

I got two boxes, which came in a larger carton. The larger carton didn't indicate the contents, but the smaller ones did.

Do these come with a warning about the envrionmental harm that harvesting peat causes?

Not that I noticed, however, if you want to burn a lot, i.e. a full peat fire, you will be out a lot of money, as one box might bive you a burn or two. I believe the continued burning of peat in Ireland as a heat source actually causes much more damage to the environment, particularly in its sourcing. I add one piece to my wood fire to add a little scent to remind me of Ireland. All burning creates some sort of carbon emmision.

Can these be used in a wood burning fireplace?

Sure. I used them in a wood burning fireplace. They are smaller than they appear and I found myself using 3 or 4 at a time. But otherwise they worked well.
