Buy Oceanology: The Secrets of the Sea Revealed (DK Secret World Encyclopedias) on desertcart.com ✓ FREE SHIPPING on qualified orders Review: Incredible Book - Another “par for the course” DK release: Excellent photography, meticulous rearch, fun and concise reading with a team of people to put it all together. Impressive work. If you’ve ever had a fascination of the ocean (who hasn’t?) then Oceanology is for you. I remember being outdoors exploring with my father when he off-handedly said “Water is amazing. I can make a little pod here, come back in a week and things with be growing in it. After awhile, there even be little critters in there.” I thought “That is something. How does that work, exactly?” This book begins to answer that not so simple question. I particularly appreciated the Classification section. Kinda sums-up the incredible diversity of ocean life (that we know about so far). After going thru the book once, I realized that’s a lot of information to absorb. Yet, the thing is, we’re just scratching the surface with this fascinating and vast subject. This is the best book I’ve ever seen for getting started with this subject now. Review: Gorgeous book! - I bought this for my teen daughter, who wants to be a marine biologist. I got it for her to peruse now and have as a beautiful coffee table book when she’s older, and I am so glad I did. The book is substantial, with gorgeous photography and tons of information. The printing quality is excellent— colors are bright, crisp and the paper is high quality. I highly recommend this book — I bought it on sale and it looks and feels like I paid a lot more. Daughter loves it, which is the true stamp of approval.

Informative and easy to read .
Great illustrations . Good reference book. Will read again later. Random art added to subject matter. Reads well in both landscape and portrait mode.

I LOVE DK PUBLISHINGS....but the Kindle versions of their books no longer work
So I would like to mention that I am an artist and an avid nature/science lover. DK books are great sources of inspiration, knowledge and wonderful to look at for reference; I have no problem admitting my bias. They are BEAUTIFULLY currated publishings! I bought this particular book as a Kindle on my ipad, for while I love flipping through books, I have been traveling and moving a lot, with digital textbooks being at my finger tips, it's lighter and more manageable! However, I believe this happened imediately after the IOS update, not just this book, but all of my DK books are fragmented and illegible. I cannot read or enjoy the books as they are meant and it breaks my heart. I'm hoping there will be a bug fix soon so I can get to reading again, because this book truly seems as beautiful, thorough and inspiring as many of the others in my collection. PLEASE FIX THIS KINDLE :) In the meantime, until I can read it fully, I'm leaving five stars for knowing from past experiences these are great books, with this not being an exemption. If this proved otherwise, I will update and edit my review.

Gorgeous Book
My three-year-old is obsessed with ocean animals and we decided to grab this book as something to read with him. He already has an ocean picture encyclopedia that he looks at daily, but this skews a bit older in the enjoyment. The pictures are absolutely gorgeous and there are lots of neat nuggets of information, but we will keep this as part of our family collection that is treated with a bit more care and TLC than the ones our kids have full access to in order to ensure we can keep it in our possession for the long-haul.

Not bad, probably better as a physical book though.
I love learning about the sea and some of the weird and wild things that live in it. This book is right up my alley with straightforward blurbs about each topic it covers, complete with vivid photos and illustrations. Reading it via ebook was more than a bit frustrating though (so much zooming in and out), so you're probably better going for a physical copy if you can find one. Worth the read, just a bit tedious because of the formatting issues.

Wouldn't recommend. Very superficial knowledge. It's still fun to read the small paragraphs but most of the pages are pictures. Too expensive for the content you get.
