Temperature control doesn't work
Updating my review... The company has been listening to their customers and have changed their thermostat supplier. They sent me two of the new thermostats, which I had installed by a certified electrician, and now the heaters are functioning perfectly. The temperature scale isn't all that accurate, but the new thermostats control the temperature to within about 1.5 degrees F, plus they have not gotten stuck in the "on" mode since I replaced the thermostats (been using the new thermostats for about a month). I have updated my rating to 5 stars. Good job, King. Old review>> I bought two of these heaters in March of 2018 and have now used them through one winter in Colorado. The heaters do heat my garage, but the thermostats do not control the temperature. The numbers on the dial are entirely inaccurate. On both heaters, the dial has to be set at somewhere between 75 and 85 to heat the garage to about 60 degrees. What is worse though is that randomly both heaters will get stuck on, and then they will heat up the garage to over 90 degrees and will not turn off automatically. In these cases, even turning the thermostat completely down to the lowest setting will not shut off the heater. To get the heater to turn off you have to turn the power knob to off. This means that you cannot risk having these heaters on and leave the house, because they could literally come on and never turn off, a possible fire hazard. If you simply want to control the temperature by manually turning the heater on or off then these heaters do work. But if you want to set the temperature to control automatically, look elsewhere.

Keeps the garage a warm working temperature!
This is great to heat our garage while working in it in the winter. The space is a two car garage plus an extended approximately 10' x 10' area in front of one of the car spaces. Being in Maryland we have some cold winters and this brings the garage to a tolerable temperature, around 60 F or so. It was easy to install and works great. Even though we didn't need to use this feature, it has the option to re-wire to change the wattage if needed for the circuit you are adding it to. We used an extra long dryer cord for it, which we purchased separately on Amazon because the cords at the local big box stores were not long enough for our application. Edit: 1\12\2019 I just wanted to follow up I have been using this heater in my garage for just over 3 years now and I still love this thing. we added insulation above the garage which helped and then I added 2 fans that hang on the wall and have them setup to where they blow air in a circle this has helped a lot in heating the garage faster. without the fans hot air would collect around the heater and it would turn off more circulating the air heats the whole garage and lets the heater run until all of the garage is warm. between the insulation and the fans it takes about 15 minutes to get the whole garage from freezing to 60ish and after just a few more minutes it easily gets to 70 or above now. I do use a portable space heater to help heat the garage at first. after it is warm i turn the fans off and the space heater and this heater alone keeps the garage warm! I have no regrets in buying this heater!

King 5700 Garage Heater is a great product
This is the perfect heater for me. Live in Houston where it does not get that cold but need something to take the chill off and keep the garage from freezing. Have an uninsulated 2 car garage and the King heater keeps it comfortable. Nice quiet fan operation, this heater gets hot enough that you cannot put your hand in front of it. Well designed, easy to mount and install, the heater was up and running in less than 2 hours after receipt. Simple wiring- 10/2 with a 30amp 2 pole single phase breaker. Easy to wire up and make connections after hanging the unit from the ceiling. I love this product. And it is made in the USA in Seattle by an old line company that has been making heaters for almost forever. I would definitely buy this heater again. If I lived in Massachusetts or Wisconsin again I think I would have at least two of these in a 2 or 3 car garage which of course would be insulated.

Small Unit with decent heat
The King heater is well made of heavy steel and is well made. It does require a 240 Volt plug, and does not arrive with a power cord. You will need a 30 amp breaker for the full amount of heat. This heater will adjust to the amount of voltage so it wlll run on less voltage but will provide less heat. It does provide a lot of heat, but if you have a big area, you may require two. It provides heat but in our 1000 square foot garage we use it for heating just one zone. It does not have the capacity for a large garage, unless it is heavily insulated,

Great Heater
This heater rocks!...I purchased this heater to provide warmth for my 3 season porch (16x20x9) and am very impressed....We live in NH and can not typically enjoy this room past October....Our 3 season porch is enclosed by 8 sliding glass doors and is totally finished with the exception that is was not heated....I blew some cellulose insulation (R60) into the attic and was looking for a cheap solution to provide some heat so that we could enjoy this room throughout the winter....This heater easily heats the room within 30 minutes.....We have had weather in the low 20's so far and we have been able to enjoy this room like it was September ...Considering it is a garage heater, the appearance of it is not distracting as it looks like an oversized speaker....I wired a 30 amp switch before the thermostat so that I could turn the heater off when we were done on the porch yet still enable the fan to blow throughout the cool down stage....If you use the dial on the heater to turn it off, the fan will be disabled and will not be able to cool the heater down....Of course you can also turn the thermostat dial down all the way but if the temperature drops below 40 the heater will kick on....This heater does not come with a power cord, so instead of wiring a clunky dryer cord onto the unit, I wired a pigtail from the unit and made my electical connection in a junction box....This maintains a nice clean look....

This heater seemed to work ok for a week
I wrote a review before but the heater I guess I SPOKE TO SOON. The heater only worked correctly for 1 month after that thermostat want out on it. At this point it is 32 degrees in Chicago at max temp I can get my very well insulated garage up to 42 degrees. That is a joke. I have contacted the company 5 times to get me a new thermostat they just keep telling me it was shipped. At this point it was shipped 4 weeks ago and still no thermostat. Now the company will not even return my calls. I would not buy this unit again if you gave it to me. I am about to throw it in the garbage. I suppose if you get lucky and get a good working unit you will be fine but if you have any problems their so called 5 year warenty is a joke. I am going to add to my review as now that I have owned this Heater for 6 months I can tell you one very important fact. Plan on buying an external Thermostat. I went out and got a wall mounted thermostat and the heater works great. So plan on spending an additional $65.00 on the external thermostat and you will be happy.

Cabin Heater
This product delivers as advertised. I notice a lot of comments about how it only raised temperature 10-20 degrees in a garage. Remember that a heater is only as good as your insulation. People think they have an insulated garage, but a garages by definition usually have fairly poor insulation. One are of a garage that is impossible to insulate is the door. Other than that, your main area of heat loss in any building is probably the roof. I put this heater in a 500 sq ft cabin, with fiberglass insulation under the tin roof, and it heated OK. Then I put in a plywood ceiling, and did lots of caulking, and now it keeps the cabin at a cozy 70 degrees, even when it gets down to 20 outside, as long as I turn up the thermostat to max. Another thing I have noticed is the the thermostat is about 10-15 degrees off. That means if you want it to be 70 inside, set the thermostat to 80-85. This might be because heater is mounted near the ceiling, and since heat rises, it is quite a bit warmer near the ceiling than near the cold floor of the cabin. Overall, if you understand the limitation of this heater and your insulation, you will realize it is a very satisfactory product.

First class heater, but you cannot expect it to ...
First class heater, but you cannot expect it to be quiet, you will hear the fan. I use mine in the garage so it does not matter at all.

Stopped working
Unit stopped putting out heat less than a month after installation. I has barely been used and not even cold yet. There is zero information on the internet or with the manufacturer to provide any means of troubleshooting.
