This is a gage that I need, works great!

Decent wire
I was concerned about this unraveling on a heavy mirror, but I sized it so I had maybe 8 inches of overlap on each end once it was twisted in place. A tight twist will put enough friction on the wire that it won't pull out. Otherwise, a lackadaisical 2 or 3 turns is likely to pull out. Go to the extra effort and use more wire, it's cheap compared to dropping something!
