Soft curls & waves. No frizz.
I have curly, grey with white hair. There are a lot of hair products for curly hair and a reasonable amount of products for grey and white hair but it's hard to find products for curly grey and/or white hair. Most hair products not made for grey and white hair can leave a dull, pale yellow tint to the hair. Also grey and white hair is often dry so products should include a moisturizing element. I've found that the best conditioners for me are somewhat light, leave-in conditioners.I used one specific leave-in hair conditioner and one hair gel for years but I can no longer find either product so I've been on a search for new products to replace my old favorites. I purchased Mixed Chicks Curl Defining & Frizz Eliminating Leave-In Conditioner because I was somewhat frustrated that I couldn't find a leave-in conditioner for curly grey and white hair and this conditioner seemed like a good product for most curly hair. I purchased it with a strong hold sculpting gel and used the two together. I determined I needed a gel with a more flexible hold and, although the Mixed Chicks conditioner seemed to work reasonably well, the conditioner was not developed for grey and white hair and it is a pale yellow in color so I became concerned that it might leave a dull yellow tint to hair after a while. so after only a few uses, I decided to try another conditioner that might work better for my hair. The gel that I purchased with this conditioner was strong hold style and it was took much for my hair. I decided to replace both the conditioner and the gel. I purchased Not Your Mother's Defining Curl Talk Cream, Frizz Control Curl Talk Sculpting Gel with flexible-firm hold, and Refreshing Curl Talk Foam and began using that group of hair products exclusively. I liked them very much but I still didn't have the Goldilocks just right combination.I decided to try the Mixed Chicks leave-in conditioner with the Not My Mother's Frizz Control Curl Talk Sculpting Gel this evening. After washing my hair, I added a bit of conditioner and, after working it into my hair, a dollop of the Frizz Control gel. Then I used my very professional hair styling technique; I pushed my hair around a bit, scrunched it a bit and headed out the door to the grocery with my hair still wet. The humidity was 79%. When I got home, my hair was dry, soft, nicely curly with waves, and had NO frizz. Seventy-nine percent humidity virtually guarantees frizz most of the time but not tonight! In addition to a conditioner that works well, I also will only use products that are cruelty free and have recyclable containers, although it's not always clear how recyclable the containers are when I order them to be delivered until I receive the product and can read the actual container. This conditioner has the PETA cruelty free symbol and 2 symbols that indicate the bottle is made with a recyclable, biodegradable resin. The bottle also has a symbol that indicates the conditioner is good for 18 months.I can't say for certain that this leave-in conditioner will work as well for others but I would recommend giving it a try for anyone searching for a good leave-in conditioner for curly hair. The Mixed Chicks conditioner was overpowered by the previous gel I used so I couldn't really tell how it worked. When I paired it with the Not My Mother's gel this evening my hair looked and felt like it did when I used my previous, much loved conditioner and gel combination.I am a little concerned that this conditioner my discolor my grey and white hair. The conditioner is actually a pale yellow color so it may not work in the long run. I'll update this review if it discolors my hair after using it a while.

Wonder product for my curls - just wish it was "natural".
I'm half black and half Japanese. My hair is very thick and very thirsty. I used to have it long growing up and would use a home relaxer a lot to try to get some control of the curls. I'd still just air-dry my hair. When I was 25, I let my hair grow out a few inches and then did a big chop to go back to my natural texture and I was happy to find that once I chopped off the old dead hair, I had lovely, springy curls. They are very thirsty though. If I do nothing after a shower, the curls wilt, become very dry, brittle and kinky. I basically have a short, curly 'fro. In the summer I go very close to my scalp closer to my neck, and in the winter I let it grow out a bit to the point where I part my hair and use bobby pins on each side to flatten the front "bang" parts, and let the rest of the curls puff out. My hair is so thick, and as long as I keep it moisturized, it stays shiny, moist and not so kinky. My problem, like most, is having 5 different products to use. And usually one of the products would be to combat a side-effect of one of the other products. For example, for separation of curls, it was usually a curl-defining gel of some sort meant for "white hair", which works but probably contained alcohol so I'd need a moisturizer because of the alcohol. This product is basically everything. It moisturizes and defines my curls and is just thick enough to hold, provides shine and does not dry. But how well this product works is also dependent up on your routine and how you style your hair.I wash my hair about every week in the summer, and can go for 2 weeks in the winter. My curls are the best a few days after I've washed it when the product sinks in and my hair is weighed down a little bit more. So, I shampoo my hair/scalp with an organic daily shampoo. I don't condition very often - only in the summer when my hair is the dryest. Here's my strategy:- Wet hair- Shampoo gently- Use a very wide tooth comb to release tangles during rinse(after this I do NOT use anything but my fingers)- I pat VERY gently with towel and squeeze out what I can- apply Mixed Chicks, about a 50 cent piece worth to my hands and rub together- run the product through with my fingers from scalp to ends. I do this all over my head and I do this twice to make sure enough product has coated curls. As I do this, I rub my fingers into my scalp to get some of the product to coat my scalp.- I use about a nickel size once more, rub on my hands and pat/shape curls. That's it. This is where I would pull some to the sides and secure with bobby pins if I want, or just let it air dry. I've dried with a warm air/diffuser, but hair works better for me. My hair pretty much dries in place without too much shrinkage. On the days between washings, I will still wet my hair in the shower, comb through, and air dry. If my hair feels thirsty or is hard to shape with my fingers, I use the nickel size amount. This product is a little pricey, but it has taken me about six months to use a small bottle. I use the most on shampoo days when I've washed the old product out. And again, I only shampoo about every two weeks.I don't recommend this for very fine hair. It may not soak up the product very well and just end up greasy feeling. My thick hair sucks up this product and remains satisfied. I do wish this didn't have so many chemical-ly, un natural sounding products in it. Until I find a more natural or organic solution, I will continue to use this.

Works great
Great leave in conditioner for my children’s mixed curly hair. I wet my children’s hair and put about a nickel sized amount worked through their hair and brush out the tangles and allow to air dry and I have nice clean manageable curls. Doesn’t make the hair too stiff either. Only complaint is that it doesn’t really have a nice smell. Doesn’t really smell like anything actually. But overall so far the best leave in conditioner I have found for my children’s hair.

Great product
Use daily, my hair eats up products, yet I can’t handle heavy products…I simply wet hair in shower add a little mix chick & twist hair for styling tomorrow. My hair is naturally curly, curls when wet, sweat or water doesn’t matter. Not sure if my hair is 1B,C or whatever just know this easily detangles my hair, great scent & works well of all products I’ve tried
