Install was extremely easy and looks pretty good. Nothing rubs or gets caught. The included hardware is more than enough for this application and feels pretty durable. The hydraulic is pretty quiet and holds the weight of the tailgate. It may work too well, the tailgate lowers a little more slowly than an OEM easy open tailgate. It’s not very big and fits in well. Haven’t had any issues with leaks, but I think that won’t be an issue as the hydraulic quality is fairly well. Overall, I’m pleased with this product. I’d rate this a level 1 install on a rating of 1-5, level 1 being the easiest and 5 being the hardest difficulty.

Easy install, works great

Worked well for several months until one of the ends fell off and is lost forever. Now it is useless. UPDATE: Seller contacted me and offered a replacement, Im up and running again. I think a little thread lock will go a long ways on avoiding this issue in the future.

Bought this item to use to slow down my heavy tailgate. It works as expected. I was able to install it in under an hour. The arm has popped off the nub a few times, but it slides back on and works as it should. After crimping the holder on the arm a little, it has not fallen off in quite a while. Would recommend this item to make your tailgate open slowly.

terrible product, installed per instructions, first problem was the strut started leaking fluid immediately upon extending for installation, next, every time i try to close the tail gate the plastic cable guide pushes the strut off the lower mounting. absolutely terrible product

Works great. Great price. I wish I knew about this item years ago. My buddies were always dropping my tailgate with a bang. Easy quick install, only issue was the instructions about the nut sert were a bit vague but a quick look at YouTube cleared that up.

Great safety feature addition to my Ram tailgate with an easy install. I was concerned about a heavy tailgate opening and falling on my grandkids.

UPDATED: The seller stood behind their product and refunded the cost. I appreciate that and will probably order this again, paying more attention to the length of the cylinder ands the hole in my tailgate. This strut may be a good product. However, the instructions were so poor that they did not specify which hole in the tailgate to install the nutsert. I used the wrong one, so the strut is too short and will not work in my case. The nutsert is a one-time use fastener similar to a drywall anchor and not something that can be purchased at Lowes or Home Depot. And since I was unable to attempt installation until after the return date had passed I'm essentially out of luck. I can find no way to contact the seller to ask if another nutsert was available for purchase. I may try a product like this again, but most likely from a different seller.
