Weller 260 Watt & 200W Professional Soldering Gun Kit with Three Tips and Solder in Carrying Case | D550PK

Well, after melting the smaller version of this soldering gun, I decided to try this version in hopes it wouldn't melt. It didn't. This gun will melt solder and heat up wire like there is no tomorrow. It is a bit heavy, but you don't have to hold it long anyhow.

I tested this on 12g wire and it was impressive. 6 Seconds and the solder is melting. Feels durable and powerful in the hand. Not for tiny electronics, but for everything larger this unit will work well and should last years.

I used Weller soldering guns when I was an electronics technician in the Air Force a hundred years ago. While the build on this newer one isn't as stout as it used to be, it still works very well. It heats fast, as it should.

Pros: Works great, heats up fast. Has lights to help you see better which is a big plus. Very affordable within the soldering gun market. Cons: It is fairly heavy so can be fatiguing for doing a lot of work, esp if you have to hold it sideways, left handed or facing toward you, so it loses points for flexibility. I had hoped that items would cool off faster after releasing trigger and therefore not having to lift tip off work until it cooled. Unfortunately the tip holds a lot of heat even after trigger is released so work will continue to be very hot, potentially damaging work or alternately you have to pull the gun off while still hot and hold work in place with another tool. This isn't any different than a non-triggered gun, it just isn't any better, either. Other: Manufacturer says tool is intended to be used "1 minute on, 4 minutes off". This hasn't been a problem for me but may be for some. The trigger makes this easy.

I grew up watching my father use one of these, so I finally decided it was time to get one for myself. His Weller soldering gun has lasted for decades without any issues, which says a lot about the durability and reputation of these tools. This kit comes with everything needed to get started, including multiple tips, solder, and a carrying case to keep it all organized. The gun heats up quickly and has plenty of power for heavier soldering jobs that smaller irons can struggle with. There’s definitely a bit of nostalgia involved for me, but it’s also a genuinely useful tool that has stood the test of time. Overall, I’m very happy with it. If you want a powerful soldering gun from a brand with a long track record of reliability, this is a great choice 👍

This kit looks great I CANNOT RECOMMEND BUYING IT AT ALL. First off, the gun has a 1-MINUTE 'ON' with 4-MINUTE 'OFF' cycle. Another reviewer noted this is not enough time to complete the work; this reviewer is correct. Was trying to reflow solder on a board to replace the ten micro fuses and even at 260 watts and added flux the solder would not flow. I know many boards are now WAVED SOLDERED, mine probably was and lead solder is still out there. I checked with the company who made the inverter I was replacing the fuses on, they said it was "low lead" solder. Secondly, the WELLER soldering light bulbs and sockets ARE NOT secured to the housing Third, the housing gets extremely warm, I had to wear a glove while trying to use it without success. I read the 'other' reviews before buying thinking it may be a 'bad batch' but I encountered all the same problems the other reviewers who gave poor reviews. When I got the D550PK one of the collars wasn't even on the on tip securing it to gun and the collar was loose, so were both light bulbs that look like bulb number 222. SO SAD. Not sure what happened to WELLLER but AVOID them! Choose another soldering gun manufacturer.

TH04JUN2026 • NOT A Toy; Nice, Heavy Feel Just Like The Ones From 50 Years Ago. Very Impressed. Works Flawlessly So Far. Nice, Long Cord, But I'm Irritated That The Carrying Case Is So Cramped. An Extra 2" X 4" Empty Recess Would Have Cost Only A Few Extra Pennies, And Would Hold A Little Flux, A Little Solder, And Small 4" Tool To Secure Wires (In Case You're Not An Octopus Or Have No Help) .... A Thoughtlessly Blown Opportunity. Still, The Soldering Gun Itself Seems Exceptionally Well-Built Compared To Other Tools These Days. "Thanks, Weller,🙂!! Improve That Carrying Case(😖)!!" 5 Out Of 5 Stars.

If purchasing in Europe be aware that it’s a 120V unit. It comes with an adapter but this is not specified anywhere in the description…. Little disappointed but it’s still a superior soldering iron.
