Star Wars: Expanded Universe Princess Leia Action Figure

A decent figure for nostalgic value
I spent a lot of time tracking down the other Dark Empire EU figures many years back when they were first released, but this one eluded me. I've seen close up pictures of it many times since then, and despite some criticism, I went ahead and purchased it anyway. The figure is a good representation of the character as depicted in the Dark Empire comics, although I found the outfit Leia wears in the comics to be a bit unflattering. The cape is flexible and easy to remove, and Leia's hair drapes over it without any issue. The figure is made with limited articulation, which was fine by the standards of when it first came out, but might be considered limited today. My biggest complaint is that only one of her hands can hold either her blaster or saber. She holds the blaster at a very odd looking angle, and while she holds the saber well enough, she's always holding close in front of her body, not really in a fighting stance. All of the other Dark Empire figures who use sabers were designed to hold them away from their body, I wish the same were true of Leia. My last real gripe is that the saber she uses in the comic has a hilt that looks totally different from the one the figure comes with. I assume many people who purchase this figure won't know the difference, but it's one thing I noticed pretty quickly.Overall, not a bad figure, although if you compare it to the figures being released today, it may be somewhat disappointing. As another reviewer stated, you probably won't see another Dark Empire Leia any time soon, so if that's your sort of thing, by all means, buy her.

Great figure!
This is a great figure to add to your collection if you're a fan of Dark Empire. The cardboard display it comes with doesn't open fully but I'm just going to display it with my Dark Empire book so I don't care.

Really Decent
For a Princess Leia figure, this one is fairly basic, but the sculpt is fantastic, especially since it's an older sculpt without the extra points of articulation that collectors have come to expect. For an older figure, though, she's quite well done. The figure was reasonably priced and well worth adding to any collection.

Nice for Dark Empire fans
This is a nice figure of Leia from the Dark Empire comics. The red color scheme might look odd, but accurately represents how she looked in the comics. This isn't a particularly unique Leia and basically looks like any other Leia with a dark cape and red lightsaber. The pose is stiff, as she's just standing, not fighting. Nonetheless, Hasbro probably won't make another Dark Empire Leia ever, so this is it. An added bonus is the small diorama background that comes with the figure.
