This bonding agent really WORKS!
I used it to mend a strap on my saddlebags that was almost torn off. I knew it couldn't be replaced so I bought the Tear Mender. I applied it and used duct tape to hold the piecees together. It really worked to seal the strap. NOTE: make sure you close the bottle tightly. You don't want it to leak out.

Tear mender. Buy it!
I've heard about this item for years. Decided to try it and I was not disappointed. Great product. Thank You Gary Sullivan. I heard about this on your Saturday morning Brosdcast. John from Bardstown Ky.

Works great, but doesn't dry clear.
This does work very well. Used it to repair jeans. Mine and my hubs contractor pants. We're both very hard on jeans. It doesn't take much product. I've used it to patch, haven't tried it to do hems or anything. Very liquidy so be careful b c ones it's on something....its on something! Gets tacky kind of like rubber cement but holds very well! Washed the patched pants numerous times. So far my patches, which were the trial run, have been on for at least 4 or 6 months, with washing and drying. However, it dries a kinda transparent yellow color, like rubber cement. So where I put the patch inside the jean behind frays u can see the tint on the frayed threads and they look dirty. For us and dirty work it's no biggie but most people don't want the dirty looking spot. So make sure u only put the adhesive where there are 2 solid peices being joined. I did try it on thin nylon type pants of his, like the summer weight wrangler type and it's OK but thin material seems to show the adhesive marks and is a tad stiff where the glue is. Not like super glue hard. But a bit noticeable if it had been a larger patch. I only docked it the star b c it doesn't dry clear.

Would not recommend
Didn't work for the cut in my car seat. Both are fabrics but it did not want to stick no matter how much I put. Can not recommend and I SHOULD have returned.

Sticky, white goo....what a dream!
So, it feels and looks like Elmer's Glue (what'd you think I was gonna say?) and works like a dream! I usually buy the fabric tape that you have to iron to activate. That stuff works but it's a pain to cut all the strips of tape and hope they stay in the right spot when you put the joining fabrics together and start ironing. So this fabric adhesive was a nice surprise. It did get a little messy when I pinched the joining fabrics together and the adhesive/glue would go thru the fabric and get on my fingers. But it was easy to clean off. One nice thing about this adhesive is that it made it very easy to mend tears that were close to seams. I had a butt pocket on some jeans that was shredded just enough that my phone would fall thru the hole. But it was right down by the seam of the pocket, which is why I hadn't fabric taped it...not enough room to put tape down and iron on a patch. This adhesive made it possible to glue on a patch right next to the seam. I've washed the pants several times since putting the patch on and it has held up nicely and doesn't feel weird or stiff as you might think glued fabric would feel. I've been very pleased with this fabric adhesive and how easy it was to use.

Works but be VERY careful
This product CAN work, but it isn't the miracle cure we all want this kind of thing to be (so maybe it deserves more than 3 stars?). I had a tear in a fairly new winter coat and attempted to fix it with Tear Mender. This was a tear in the outer layer, and I wasn't sure how well this product would stick to the fabric. I decided to follow the instructions for mending nylon fabric and first glued a piece of cotton cloth to the inside. This worked, but the glue is much thinner than expected and kind of ran all over. In the end it DID fix the tear, but ended up being a bit more messy than I anticipated and my patch jog was incredibly visible. The other issue was that because this product is pretty runny it soaked completely through and I ended up gluing the pocket closed. Thankfully I was able to pry the pocket open, but that resulted in the undoing of my patch work. I will definitely try this again after I remove some of the glue from the first attempt, and I think it will be much more successful the second time. For first time users I would recommend that you squirt some of the glue onto a paper plate and use a Q-tip or tooth pick to apply it. Also, their claim is completely true as far as it being easily removed from skin.

My go to adhesive for backpack
This is a fantastic mender for my backpack. I have a special backpack of great sentimentality. I really should replace it but cannot find one with the same features I love. Tear Mender has so very nicely fixed tears and separation of seams. However, there are things to be aware of when buying: 1) If you get the white mender, it dries white. If you get the clear, it dries clear. Other reviewers dinged the ratings unfairly. 2) This is a single use product, meaning after you use it the next time it will be dried out or cap blocked and/or a strange odor. So don't buy a big bottle, buy several smaller ones. 3) I have used this product on many items including sneakers, purses, jackets, dog leashes, camping gear and even clothing hems. Very versatile, but you have to be careful on your application. Do not just glop it onto the surface.
