ENPITSU Sharp Mechanical Pencil, 1.3 mm Thick Lead Green, Refillable

(I purchased the blue one) This is my new favorite pencil. I love the innovative feature of loading from the back, that's the first reason I wanted to buy it. After testing it out, the performance is great, I use it almost exclusively for drawing, for writing it's a bit large (lead wise) but the quality was good. It has a very nice hand feel, thanks to it's diameter and beveled triangular design. For negatives I only have one thing, being the texture. For some reason instead of going with a smooth ABS plastic, like say a Lamy Safari pen or Lego, they went with a odd sandpaper feel, which is not pleasant for me personally. It does not hurt my enjoyment of the pencil, but I wish they would have added some grooves or bumps and gone with smooth plastic. That's really just a nitpic from me, great pencil and for the price you can't beat it. Worth buying for the rear loading, simple design, great hand feel and price!

It feels good in the hand because of the tri-shaped design. The end cap isn’t removable so it can’t be lost. Slide a new lead through the hole to refill. It comes with two .9mm 2B leads and writes buttery smooth. I love it!

First off, please head the gripes from other reviewers that this mechanical pencil does NOT have an eraser. I did not notice that this pencil doesn't house an internal eraser when I ordered it. I, however, do not view it as a negative since I use other eraser pencils and such anyway. I know I ordered a 0.9 mm lead mechanical pencil but this was not what I expected, in mostly good ways. The pencil lead at 0.9 mm will write thick dark lines that I desired on paper and it is extremely comfortable to me while doing so. The actual shape of the pencil (non-circular) makes it easier for me to grip and keep my writing steady. It feels sturdy enough to withstand keeping in my front pockets of any jeans, shorts, pants, etc. My only complaint is that the Wine Red model is actually more of a pink/purple shade.. I'm a guy, and while I'm comfortable being seen using this shade because of how awesome it feels and writes, I really did want a dark red colored pencil.

I ordered the "wine red" color based on the listing's first image and considered the second image to be a possible colorway as well. However, I received a more "grape wine" purple, which, maybe in very high-contrast lighting, could reflect more like the second image in the listing, though definitely not like the first, which I had hoped for. I included pictures of both, as well as the original photos of what I received in two different lighting scenarios. This mechanical pencil is really good if you missed the feeling of a typical #2 pencil smoothing out into solid and consistent lines when writing but wanted the convenience of not having to sharpen repeatedly with a reusable base. The downside is the missing eraser at the back, but I would argue it forces me to make a more conscious effort not to mess up because of the slight annoyance of having to grab an eraser. And refilling the lead by just inserting it into the back, no parts to remove and place back, is just so much quicker. I am left-handed and have a (preferred) non-traditional grip, holding it pinched between three fingers and resting on the ring finger. However, due to being lightweight, its rounded triangular shape, and a body lined with a smooth, silicone-type material, it is really comfortable to write with a traditional grip as well, where the pencil is pinched between the pointer and thumb and rests on the middle finger. One downside of its material is that it collects dust, so you will have to wipe it often, or you will have the feeling of dust under your fingers as you write. I would imagine this means it may also build up other dirt over time. The ergonomic shape and non-slip nature solve the problems I found with other pencils, which caused me to develop the grip I normally use. The non-slip material extending the entire length of the pencil also means every grip style can make use of it. I found myself unintentionally swapping to the traditional grip because of its design, and it helps with the usual fatigue from using my normal grip. Another plus is you get the same experience regardless of right or left handed use. I especially like it for writing Japanese kana and kanji as I learn. I tend to be heavy-handed with shaky hands, but with this pencil and its 0.9mm lead, it is much easier to write unfamiliar characters with more consistent lines and does not snap easily compared to other pencils. This will be my go-to pencil. It's a great value, and it also erases pretty well if you are not super heavy handed.

I admit I love pencils. I’ve tried all Kinds of brands but for me the Kokuyo Enpitsu are the best. They are comfortable, and reliable. The grip is just soft enough to keep it from slipping in hand but not so spongy that it feels awkward. In general Japanese mechanical pencils work better. I have given this one to my 11 yr old and honestly seen an improvement in his handwriting. I think it’s the triangular shape. It fits his hand better.

I really like the shape of this pencil. It’s not a circle. It’s more like a triangle shape. The only downfall is that it comes with no eraser, but I like how it writes and it does not break.

I bought the product on red wine. I got it on purple color. It is just amazing I already have it in blue (I got it like 2months ago). Mechanical pencil is amazing, texture and size… just perfect. The most surprising thing is that purple does not appear as an option when ordering in store.

A very simple pencil that has no clip so nothing gets in my way when I’m holding it. Also no eraser at the top but very easy to refill with lead. Very comfortable to hold and write with. I like the metal tip is retractable. Came with dark and smooth leads.
