Old Masters 1 qt 81204 Maple Oil-Based Gel Stain

this stain is excellent at almost everything, whether using on bare wood or just scuffing the surface of some old piece of furniture and smearing it on for a face lift. I always use a rag. it seems easier to control how thick you get it that way. it is only semi op ache so it covers well, yet still allows grain to show some, or it is op ache enough to make the appearance of grain using your smear marks. It dries to a rather significant surface, rugged enough to leave it as is if a surface that does not see much abuse, I don't even clear coat it if using on a window frame ect. THis of coarse saves you a lot of work. This is why I rarely use anything else. It has some similar properties to paint. It applies very well to previously finished surfaces with only light sanding, and covers significant blemishes without totally washing out the original look.

I’m making a headboard and need to use mixed woods. In this case, maple, birch plywood and pine. Both stain very well and the maple does not have as pronounced blotches. I’ve used other gel stains but this seems the best. Only drawback was the delivery was very slow otherwise I’d have given it 5 stars.

Easy to use, matches the color on my trim and doors that were done in the 80,s. Great to use for overhead with low drip. Only thing bad I can say is that it's getting hard to find. I ended up getting it from Amazon cause I would of had to travel 30miles to get it.

Use this on plastic and metal on my RV to make it look like wood trim from any distance.

I have been using for long time Old Masters stains and techniques but this is not quite a bit maple color. It is an orange color.

This gel stain is easy to apply and you can add as many coats to obtain the color needed. The Old Master gel stain comes in many colors. This size I selected is perfect for small projects.

The color is bright orange
