Cannot rave enough about solar buddies. My kids love using them and I even have my sunscreen in one. All of my friends have bought them too. Makes it so easy to apply and keep hands clean.

These have been great for the kids to apply their own sunscreen! No mess on our hands, smooth, even, easy application. The only downside is that you’re supposed to replace the applicator part with the sponge every year.

is it expensive for what it is? Possibly. Is it unfathomable that they don't have replacement sponge tips? ABSOLUTELY. You unscrew the handle and pour in your favorite sunscreen. Tighten it back up, take the bottom cap off and rub it on your kids arms, legs, face, neck, etc. the ball meters out a thin layer of sunscreen and the sponge helps spread it around. The ball doesn't always roll but the sponge always has some left, which is great for sgetting noses, ears, and spots around the face. Now, it's not entirely hands off because you still need to rub the sunscreen into the skin, but it does limit how much sunscreen gets on your hands (because it's hard to wash off!) and you don't have to spread around drippy globs (because drips stain everything and are hard to wash out). It packs in bags easily and doesn't explode, people ask about it when we bring it out at the beach or theme parks for reapplication. If your skin NEEDS a thick thick layer of sunscreen (fair skin at the beach) maybe this won't work well for you, but it allows me to put up with a doing sunscreen every day before school/daycare. I quickly wash my hands before driving because I don't want sunscreen on my steering wheel and car. The child seats can be washed and will eventually be discarded :). As it's price, it's more than I'd like but it pays off in less frustration applying sunscreen. It would be much more worth the price if they sold replacement sponges. I had to buy a new set because on my first, the sunscreen eventually got under the sponge's adhesive and the sponge would fall off constantly. It is otherwise 100% still good. This is the only reason for -1 star. At least on the new ones, the handle has a flat top so you can sit it on a table when you refill it.

I was pleasantly surprised with how much I love this product. My friend has a thing where she hates the feeling of lotion on her hands, so when I saw this, I bought it to try to see if I should suggest it for her. While I don't really care about the feeling of lotion on my hands, I'm sensitive to chemical sunscreen touching my chest, neck, and face so I wanted something I could use to put sunscreen on without it leaving anything behind on my hands that might cause me to get a rash on my neck. I don't fill the top part with lotion because I like to use different products depending on the situation so I just put the lotion on my skin or on the ball of the applicator, then use the applicator to rub it in. I'm kinda glad I didn't fill it because I've noticed some product does make it's way back into the container and since I use this mainly to apply and reapply sunscreen to my arms, when I reapply, dirt/sand can get rolled into the container. Since i don't fill it, I just open it and wipe the residue off. I ended up liking these so much that I told my friend who bought them and she also really likes them. A couple notes, the ball doesn't move when the cap is on so it can't leak; it's not scratchy or rough to use to apply, it's a medium size which is good for general use, but smaller or larger would be nice for different body parts or ages (it seems a little big on a 5 year old but it would be small on a large area like an adult's back).

I bought this item for my Cayman Trip in July 2025. Loved it. It worked great for me to keep sunscreen (SPF 50) applied on my shoulders, chest, and arms. Perfect. Didn’t burn cause it was fast and easy. Fast Forward - Summer 2026…. Using it again for the same thing at our community pool… it apparently got hot and the shape distorted. Now - I can not use it the sunscreen leaks because it is not secure. Slightly confused on how it handle Cayman heat and not NC heat.

These are perfect ok you don’t like sunscreen all over your hands when applying Also great for reapplying. My grandkids can use themselves with supervision. They’re also perfect for on-the-go. The sponges can wear out so I recommend buying the replacement applicators as well.

Awesome! Makes putting sunscreen on my kids way easier. Super handy and easy to use. The kids even like to use it! Highly recommended and definitely worth the price.

Came across these as I have a child with a sensory aversion to applying sunscreen. I must say I was a bit dubious with how they would go as I haven't really found sunscreen rollers the best in the past. I must say that these have been a big hit though. The sponge nicely spreads the sunscreen without any need to actually get any sunscreen on your hands. I'm not too sure how well the sponge will last longevity wise so we'll have to wait and see but a week in and they're going well.

Unimpressed. I bought these for two school children and they both separately had their applicator come apart in their classroom and spill everywhere. Returning them from Australia cost almost as much as buying them.
