The "Trash Liner Only" model does not have a hard plastic bin - it's designed for garbage bags. The "Trash/ Recycling Combo Liner" comes with two separate plastic bins, one black, one blue (see photo). They are sold separately as: Rubbermaid Commercial Dual Liner Set for Slim Jim Metal Step-On Wastebasket, Dual Liner for Front-Step Wastebaskets, 8-gallon, Black/Blue (1902006).The two bins in the 8-gallon model have a 7x8 inch opening at the top, which is not really enough for recyclables because it fills up quickly with a half-gallon of milk, etc. If you want a single hard plastic bin, order a separate Rubbermaid Commercial Replacement Rigid Liner for Slim Jim Stainless Steel Front Step-On Wastebasket, For Front-Step Containers, 8-gallon, (1900697). The single bin will last for a week of (single-stream) recyclables in our house. We were considering the 24 gallon size, but that would have been ginormous in a small kitchen. 8 gallon is the perfect size (with about the same foot print as the 4 gallon).

Extremely well made. We wanted one this size for our kitchen but we didn't want the 2 plastic liners inside that separate trash. However after we removed them and tried to use a trash bag it would tear and come apart when we took it out because of plastic pieces that jut out on the inside of the can. If the sides on the inside of the metal can were smooth it would be perfect for us. However, the way it is, it's a hassle.

We got the 13-gallon dual liner trash/recycling combo. Great can, very sturdy. My wife loves the size, I wish we'd gone with the 24 gal dual liner because the recycling side fills up pretty quick, but I have to admit this is the more reasonable size to get. Pro tip: Simplehuman Code H liners are a good fit, regular 13gal trash bags aren't. Also, this thing fits and opens FLUSH against the wall. We have a kitchen island counter with a 1-1.5 inch overhang and the lid opens right into the overhang. We had to put something behind the trash can to keep it away from the wall. Keep that in mind for placement.

Can arrived with a big dent in the side. I re-packed it and returned for a refund.

The garbage side was too small for my needs.

Quality is great, it is just huge, it looks out of place, when they say commercial they mean it. I guess to fit two good size trash cans in one that's what you get. If you don't mind a ginormous trashcan it does a good job and what the capacity is unbeatable for a two in one

The 24 gallon trash/recycling can - OK, I almost hyperventilated as I was pushing the button to purchase this trash can...I mean who pays $350 for a trash can? I have been searching FOREVER for the perfect trash can because I needed it to do these non-optional things:- Fit 13 gallon trash bags, anything smaller is just a waste and I did NOT want to buy special bags- The lid needed to close automatically as my dog is always getting into my old can- Be dual and have a place for recycle as my current recycle bin is a complete eye sore! This came with both inserts.- Be attractive and not look industrial- Have two removable bins so that I can empty easily, remove for cleaning when necessary, and not worry about items that are being placed in the can damaging the actual can.Well folks, I found all that in this baby! I love it. It took me a minute to figure out that the diagram was showing me how to twist the cinch string and place it in the opening to prevent the bags from slipping down.I am very pleased and will update my review in a few months to discuss durability but it looks like this thing will LAST!!

Very heavy, which is perfect, since we bought this to replace smaller recycle and trash bins that the dogs would knock over. I really don't see them getting into this, unless they work as a team with one on the foot pedal and the other jumping up. If you have a small kitchen, this will look out of place, because it is very big. I also should let you know that the lid is heavy, so a fair amount of force is needed on the foot pedal to open. Not a big deal, and actually great for our purposes.
