Lab Manual for Security+ Guide to Network Security Fundamentals, 4th Edition 4th Edition

The book was in rough shape, but I expected that, Has all the pages still there. Not exactly an interesting read but I did need it for class.

It's pretty good at explaining the subject, and it tells you where to go for everything else... So that makes it pretty good.

I was hoping it came with access to some kind of virtual lab resources. It is not really practical for home use, geared towards classroom setting.

My Security+ class uses this lab manual extensively. In the beginning of the semester our instructor warned us that the questions at the end of the labs were difficult, and not to worry, as he would be dropping the 3 lowest scores. I wasn't all that scared after being in IT for 20 years. Well, now we're in week 10 and I absolutely LOATHE this book. While a few of the questions are easy and right out of the lab text, a great majority of them are difficult, require outside research, and are worded almost in a tricky manner. If you are a Windows Server 2008 expert you will likely breeze through this, but I am definitely not.The book is written by a different author than the main Security+ text by Cengage, and correlates with said book very little. The chapters align, yes, but that's about as far as it goes.This is not to say that there isn't a lot to be learned from the labs in this book... there most definitely is a TON to learn. But if you are using this in a class where your grade depends on answering these questions, be prepared for possible frustration.

Most people in the industry would probably agree that CompTIA is outdated and a basically cash cow at this point. This book is a perfect example of their business model of late.Pros:- None.Cons:- Priced very high.- 100% change from previous revisions to make you purchase the newest volume every time.- NO ANSWER KEY for any of their questions, so there's really no point in these activities.- everything is extremely dated.- CompTIA is garbage.

I was using the 3rd edition and was finding it hard to keep up, I like the layout of this edition. Came in great condition, no complaints
