Can this set be used without the pilot drill, need to make some circular discs with no hole in the centre?

Yes using the following method 1) cut the size of hole you want in a scrap piece of wood 2) remove the pilot drill 3) secure the scrap piece of wood to the wood you want the disc cut from (use a clamp or such) 4) the scrap piece of wood will hold the cutter in place without slipping giving you a disc with no hole on the centre

Any suggestions on extending the life?

We recommend using a drilling speed ≤ 1000 as this will extend the life of the hole saw.

Can inexperienced people use it normally?

It is recommended that you choose the low speed mode of the electric drill and try to use it on cork to understand how it works.

Will it cut out for bath taps

Yes, acrylic or fibre glass cutting will be fine for this set
