Made from plantation rubber trees. According to Google, that's what Asian hardwood is. How unique! Very well made and a breeze to assemble. Comes in 5 cartons strapped to a pallet. Nicely packed with lots of styrofoam and foam sheeting and no damage! That's awesome since originally it had to have shipped from Viet Nam where it's made! We chose the microfiber cushions and they are very comfortable and Scotchguard protected. The whole set looks quite nice and the wife and I are very happy with our purchase. The chairs are unique as is the butterfly leaf that folds up and swings down into the table top. You can't lose it. Very ingenious! Everything fits well and I assembled this whole set in under 5 hours by myself. And I'm older and slower than I used to be. That's what my wife keeps telling me. This is my personal experience and I'm sticking to it. Update 8/3/24: We've had this set for 7 years now and couldn't be happier. The cushions are like new and the finish is still beautiful. Still loving the butterfly wing. Like how you can't loose it and don't have to rummage through closets trying to find it when you need it. Great idea! Bottom line.... without hesitation we'd buy it again!

This dining set is perfect. My husband and I put the table together and my 16 yr. Old grandson put the 4 chairs together without a hitch! All things lined up and it’s very sturdy. There were no dents or scratches. I am so very pleased and would highly recommend. I had already seen this set at my nephews so I knew I would love it. We priced dining sets and were blown away at the cost. Try this set. You won’t be disappointed! Thanks Amazon for hitting this out of the park.

I liked the look. It fits comfortably in my small area. The only thing I didn't like is the stain seems to be wearing off on the edges of table, and when you wipe it you can see the stain on the cloth, SORRY! I returned the table and chairs with no problem whatsoever, They brought another set, exactly like what I ordered, so far so good. Thank You Amazon.

The shipment arrived 2 days earlier than amazon's projection which was positive for us. We chose the option for delivery to be made as close to the door as possible as it was a single pallet with 5 large boxes. All arrived neatly packed on a new-looking pallet and shrink wrapped. After unsealing the shrink wrap, I brought the 5 boxes inside to a spot I cleared in the living room. The box containing the table top was the largest and heaviest and required help to be moved safely. The boxes were all clearly labeled for their contents. I unpacked the box containing the pedestal first. It consisted of a cylindrical center piece, four braces with leveling feet, and a hardware pack including an allen wrench and an open end wrench. The table base took about 10 minutes to assemble using the included bolts, washers, nuts. and lockwashers. There were no instructions provided for the table base but it was pretty easy to figure out. There were three chair boxes each containing parts and hardware for two chairs. Each chair consisted of a back with rear legs, a seat, two front legs, and a hardware pack including allen wrench. Each chair took about 10 minutes to assemble with the included hardware and instructions. The table top came assembled at 42" round with the center leaf already folded beneath the top. As with the table base, there were no included instructions with the table top. Still it was easy to figure out that you needed to remove a rectangular shaped mounting plate from the bottom of the top by removing 6 nuts along with 6 washers and lockwashers. Notice there are 4 additional holes evenly spaced toward the center of the mounting plate. With the assembled table base upright (black leveling feet on the floor), attach the mounting plate removed from the table top by aligning the 4 holes with the 4 threaded studs sticking up from the top of the pedestal base. Secure the mounting plate by attaching the 4 nuts, flat washers, and lockwashers that came in the hardware pack with the pedestal base. With the help of a trusted friend or family member, place the top on the pedestal base and aligning the 6 holes on the bottom of the table top with the now securely fastened mounting plate. Once the holes are aligned, thread the 6 bolts, previously removed from the mounting plate when it was secured to the loose table top, into the mounting plate. Be sure to the bolts all have a flat washer and a lock washer. Once this is done, the table is finished. There are 4 spring-loaded latches beneath the table top for securing/unsecuring the leaf extension. Once unsecure, you can spread the table apart with the help of a friend. Carefully pull up the center leaf and unfold it. It will align with some dowels when opened up and flat. You can then push the table back together. Don't forget to secure all 4 of the latches beneath the table. Now your table is a 42"x 60" oval. We noticed a few minor scratches but they were all out of view underneath the table top on the mounting plate. Overall we love the color in our kitchen. With 5 of us in this household, we leave the table extended in the 42" x 60" oval position normally. The added flexibility of coming with 6 chairs (we got them in all wood) is nice too as many sets only come with 4. It could go faster using a powered screw gun with the correct size hex key driver and a wratchet wrench for the bolts. Using the hand wrench and hex key wrenches provided, altogether it took about 2-1/2 hours for two of us to complete this including: 1. Unpack the boxes and stage inside the house 2. Remove the old table and chairs from the spot the new table would go. 3. Assemble the table pedestal. 4. Assemble the table top. 5. Assemble the chairs. 6. Clean up all the boxes, packing, and pallet.

Not a very solid table. I do like the wood. However the bolts do not stay snug so the table top is loose. I would not buy again.

There was slight damage to the underside of the table due to shipping because there was a hole in the box.

Four years old and 3 of the 6 chairs are coming apart. This set has been gently used.
