How does it stick to the tank it don’t have a sticky side

It doesn't stick at all, it rests below the tank. There really isn't a need for the sticky unless you are applying to the side of the tank.

Does it works in the tank or under?

Heating pad should go underneath the tank, the animal could get burned if they touch it directly.

Is the only for glass aquariums?

You could use on other types cages as long as there is no danger of fire or melting risk.

Could i use this with a plastic tote?

Yes, you should be able to, I use mine with plastic totes that I'm housing my leopard geckos in and they work well.
