I have a form of this headset from back in 2019. I don't want to do without it so I decided that I needed a replacement for when it goes down. I just tested this out and it works the same, but better. This can use a headset microphone. I used the one that came with and a generic one I had gotten. Both worked great. One thing though, if the sound sounds low in volume and far away.....pull and replug the mic firmly- yes firmly- the bottom of the mic stick should be flush against the plug opening. At first on mine the sound was low and seemed far away (that is from the built in mic on it which isn't that great). I finally pulled the mic and replugged making sure it was firmly seated...then it worked just fine. Then I tried the generic mic and it worked great too. On the mic stick, muting isn't really muting on mine, but that is ok I can do it in the program if I need it. We're set here. Very happy.

Overall, I love this head set so much, I have 2!First was bought in April of 2020. I love the overall range, plus it satisfies the "USB" connected requirement for my job.Second was bought in August of 2021 because I needed a second one for when the first's battery went out after 3 or 4 days of use, and I could rotate them around. (This still holds true today on February 1st of 2023. The batteries last 3 to 4 days before needing a charge.)Pros:•Range. I can get my cup of coffee and stay on the line. I haven't measured it but the range is pretty sweet. I've had it work from a connection through 3 floors of an apartment and not cut out until I was 2 ft from the building. If you don't have anything like steel or aluminum, it should work fine.•Mic can be disconnected if you chose to use it to simply listen to something.•Earphones are over ear and noise cancelling. I can hardly hear a thing outside of the headphones once they're on.•CUSTOMER SERVICE! When the dongle started to refuse to connect in June or July of 2021, I contacted customer service, did the necessary troubleshooting (3 very easy steps) and they sent me a free new dongle to replace the bad one. Super easy, very kind, and very quick.•Mic mute is easy to use, directly on the mic, and just a click.Cons:•The first head set does have trouble connecting to either dongle in general. It is almost a 3 year old headset now, but it started having troubles after the first dongle went bad. The 2nd head set, purchased just under 2 years ago, hasn't had issues currently.•A few co-workers don't like that the mic can only be on the left side of your face. Personally doesn't bother me, but worth noting.•That's it. I have nothing else that's a con. These headsets are awesome! I recommend them for anyone looking for a Wireless USB connection headset.

You will need to re-pair the headset with your blue tooth transmitter (it arrives factory-paired with the included "dongle", which you won't use with the transmitter). I initially could not get the headset to switch into pairing mode per the procedure in the accompanying instruction set. The fix appears to be to put the transmitter into pairing mode first, and then attempt to put the headset into pairing mode second. That worked after several tries and the two finally connected. However, when I turned the headset off and then turned it back on later, the headset would not automatically reconnect to the transmitter as the enclosed instructions seemed to indicate that it should, and as I had been used to with an earlier Avantree headset (the transmitter is also an Avantree product). Apparently the procedure for this - and they don't tell you this in the instructions - is as soon as the blinking blue light appears on the headset or you hear the voice say "Welcome to Avantree", give the silver power switch three quick, short, presses. You should then hear a chime sound and the voice say "Connecting". You will need to do this each time you turn the headset on in order to get it to reconnect to the transmitter.

Expect to destroy your hearing! when you turn it on it goes full volume every time! I have tried many times to turn it down and keep it down. even returned the first set thinking this is BS! Nope same thing on other. SO I have to remember to NOT PUT ON MY HEADSET WHILE TURNING ON!! TOTAL BS! I tried to contact customer support from manufacturer. Their support link is disabled. NO help! NO answers! No guidance! shopping at amazon is great until there is an issue Then its NOT! Amazon needs to baby sit their sellers on returns /Refunds , not AMAZON CUSTOMERS!would have been 5 stars NO problem otherwise. I value my hearing and this is Unexceptionable! If I wasnt so busy I would return the replacement too. Wasting my time! 10-7-21 update STILL NO HELP still hate this headset. I am so sick of it turning up on its own even between games . DO NOT BUY THESE! i regret it !

After 4 - 8 hours of daily use for almost 2 years, it still sounds great, battery charges quickly. Gets me sweaty behind the ears at times, and I wish they would update to USB C, but those are minor quibbles.UPDATE: Just bought another one. I got one in Oct 2022 and March 2025 one of the ear cushions came unglued. I have a box full of headsets rejected for one reason or another, and none of them had the range of this set. I like to be able to go to the kitchen or bathroom without loosing connectivity. This is the only one I could do that.I read some of the other reviews, and I have to take issue with some statements. 10 seconds to turn on/off is an exaggeration. It is 5 seconds, and that can certainly seem long. The buttons serve multiple functions, so for on/off you have to press the middle of the button -- too far left or right and you will be telling it to do something else. Oddly, they may have programmed for this. If I press the wrong spot, when I press the right spot, it takes less than 2 seconds.

The media could not be loaded. Boom Mic barely works and won't stay in the hole. It falls out far enough to stop working. So, it's pointless, just a headphone set. Bummer. I really like the way it looks and feels.
