One of my favourite films, with one of my favourite singers. Just as good today as when it first came out.

This review is for the German Media Book version for The Jazz Singer (White Pearl Classics) After reading reviews on the Blu ray I was a bit worried about the film picture and sound, but what a relief I can report this classic from 1980 has never looked better on the home video market.Picture is sharp and clear, retaining grain but not overpowering, it’s a revelation over the previous DVD versions which have come before this. There’s two audio tracks, German and English. Both say DD 5.1, after listening to both I’m sorry to say but the German version is the worst. The English soundtrack is the best, but it’s not DTS 5.1 as we know 5.1. There is no sound separation so you get dialogue from all speakers at the same time, back and fronts.. I switched my amplifier to Stereo and that was definitely the preferred option, still would have been nice if the sound had been re mastered as this is a musical film.As this is the only version you can get worldwide I can highly recommend getting this version, the media book is a nice touch if you speak German, also it comes with a DVD of the film, not sure why you would want a DVD if your buying a Blu ray.Blu ray specs are 1920 x 1080/50i MPEG-4 AVCPicture 1.85 widescreenBonus features- original Trailer, artwork gallery, showing stills and previous version covers etc

DVD arrived in perfect condition. As promised. Delivery wasn’t great. And messages from delivery was poor. The seller and item was perfect.
